Not a great advert for the beautiful game, but we won.

Marcus Bignot's red and white army.

Smith despite his silly booking early on and the miss, followed by Clarke. Wright did ok as well and McGregor in a more defensive role. Ofoborh some good tackles too.

Went for Tshimanga for his enterprise in winning the penalty and then coolly taking it.

Clean sheet needs to be recognised so Clarke for me.
Looks very comfortable in defence for a career midfielder.

I’m not sure who to go for today. I only saw from the injury stoppage onwards, so not the whole game.

We focussed on destroying and not creating. We struggled to string anything together, but stopped them effectively.

Everyone contributed to that. So I’m going ‘none of the above’.

I went for Ofoborh.  Thought he was effective in limiting Chesterfield's threat opportunities. Smith was also a positive presence higher up in midfield with his hold up play and flick on passes (esp. from chest).

And although I was anxious, as in any close game, our defending became really solid after the early injury stoppage.  Especially at numerous set pieces inc. corners.  Credit to Ripley, not for his "saves", rather for perhaps 3 convincing punches under real pressure - this now gives us an "extra defender" compared to what we have been used to till now.

That was ugly & not an advert for lower league football. Not sure we strung more than 2 passes together all game but we did what was needed.

McGregor impressed yet again. For someone so young, learning a new position he was absolutely rock solid at the back & only had their winger get past him once all game despite them trying to play down that side constantly.
