Title: Mount Rushmore in Swindon Post by: Bob's Orange on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 07:57:16 It's something they were talking about on TalkSport and I thought it might be an interesting discussion point. So it's just your 4 most important or influential players or managers in STFC history in your opinion. Not necessarily just the best players we've had, but those people who have had most impact
A bit like Adje's top 5 thread but with a twist. Title: Re: Mount Rushmore in Swindon Post by: jayohaitchenn on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 08:24:27 Danny Williams, Lou Maraci, Glenn Hoddle, Paolo Di Canio

Don Rogers, Lou Macari, Glenn Hoddle, Jan Aage Fjortoft Quite a good span of time covered with two players and two managers... Title: Re: Mount Rushmore in Swindon Post by: fuzzy on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 08:38:58 Nigel Eadie, Don Rogers, Glenn Hoddle, PdC

Don Rogers, Lou Macari, Glenn Hoddle, Jan Aage Fjortoft Quite a good span of time covered with two players and two managers... No Shaun Taylor? Regardless of his suitability, I can't think of a more perfect head to be chiseled out of the side of a mountain. Title: Re: Mount Rushmore in Swindon Post by: Nemo on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 09:33:58 I challenge anybody to do a post 2013 mount rushmore for Swindon A positive one, I assume? You could do the opposite very easily. From 2014/15, a "rays of sunshine amongst the gloom" mount (I suggest it's a small mountain in between several sewage treatment facilities) Michael Doughty Eoin Doyle/Anthony Grant Massimo Luongo Scott Twine/Harry McKirdy Or possibly Tom Broadbent for *that* goal alone. It's not on the same level as the all time legends group, but it's alright. We made a L1 playoff final and won L2 in that time. Good shout :hmmm: ...probably a toss up between OST and JAF in fairness. Couldn't be more different in their individual styles but equally iconic. How I miss them...Title: Re: Mount Rushmore in Swindon Post by: Peter Venkman on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 10:31:08 Manager Mount Rushmore
Danny Williams, Lou Macari, Ossie Ardiles and Glenn Hoddle. Player Mount Rushmore Harold Fleming, Don Rodgers, John Trollope and Shaun Taylor. The 1st 3 are obvious, even if none of us saw Fleming play his impact on the club is immense, Don for obvious reasons, Trollope because no player will ever do that for us again and Taylor because he gave EVERYTHING for the club and would probably have died for us on the pitch. Title: Re: Mount Rushmore in Swindon Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 11:50:11 Venks wins Can't Argue with Venks list, but I'd be inclined to include Bert Head in the managers list & Andy Rowland in the players list. That said, difficult to decide who then drops out Title: Re: Mount Rushmore in Swindon Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 11:55:03 Danny Williams has to be, won our only major trophy.
Glen Hoddle took us to the premier league (and them promptly left, but still) Ossie Ardiles took us to the first tier as well (demotion not his fault) Those three are a lock. The fourth is a lot more open. Probably a player that won the league cup. As much as Don Rogers is a strong contender, its Trollope for me as longest ever club servant. Played record number of appearances, won a major trophy and managed us. He is Mr Swindon Town. Title: Re: Mount Rushmore in Swindon Post by: fuzzy on Thursday, November 14, 2024, 12:00:35 Further thoughts to mine and I think our Mount Rushmore could do well with just two players- Harry Toffolo and Nathan Thompson doing their celebrations after THAT Brizzle game.
