Some things never change- shit defending from Kilcline!

Notice all the ‘stuff’ on the pitch thrown from the Shrivvy with that Hughes incident.

How the fuck has it all come to this?

We have been badly managed on and off the pitch pretty much for 27 of those last 30 years.

Yeah. We can all point the finger at Jed/Power/Clem but those before them never had any interest in building upon any bit of success we’ve had along the way.

Fuck me, the TE and the Bank are exactly as they were when I first went in 1968 - save for a bit of plastic.

What a damning indictment on them all.

The Bank has new concrete as well!

Remember that game -  Sanchez warmed up before the game in amongst the Man Utd players.  You can tell from the highlights there was clearly a concerted effort to mix it up a bit.  Oh to have a Nijholt type of player right now!

Kilcline was pretty atrocious that season, living on his narrow boat.

In my usual spot - back of the Shrivvy. Vaguely knew the guy who pinged Hughes!

I wonder how much we paid useless players during that season. Kilcline,Sanchez,Fenwick,McAvennie....

Re Kilcline, we did win a third of our total points in the 10 games that he played & the goals against were slightly below the average for the season as a whole.

The cap & ponytail combo has to be one the worst bits of tat to make it into the club shop.
Still, something is better than nothing.

I only missed one at home, Cov City. Saw us away at Villa and Leeds (stood in the home end, my Leeds supporting mate jumped all over me to make it look like I was celebrating  :girlgiggle:)

Villa Away, took over 5k fans to that one if I remember it correctly.  Remember walking by the Barnes Coaches that filled up a car park and the Aston Villa fans walking in front of me mentioning how many there were.  Followed that up with a shocking performance mind, was that Sheffiled in goal?  When we were playing with Emergency Keepers I think.

Had a season ticket that season in the Shrivvy Road, the Hughes thing was about 10 yards up from us.

Got to about 10 away games, but didn't make our only away win

Only missed a couple all season. Newcastle away was a great day out as was Tottenham. Everton away was a real bummer.

I was lucky I got to do player security that season for the club, I was a steward for 5 years before and 10 years after but that was the only season I did the player side of things.

Went to every game bar the Chelsea home and Newcastle and Aston Villa away due to illness.

The Man Utd players were arrogant fucks, Cantona, Schmeichel, Keane and Hughes especially so. Their bus got attacked leaving the County Ground and Cantona tried to get off the coach and fight about 100 Town fans single handedly!

That season the best bunch of players were the Arsenal team who stayed after the game to socialise with some fans in the boardroom, Seaman, Wright, Dixon and Campbell were all very very friendly to us.

Unfortunatley our defence was too friendly to them that very cold post Boxing Day game!

Yeah, I was in the lower Witton Lane on the side, we also had the lower tier behind the goal. Crowd was around 27k, we made up about 20% of it. Then lost 5-0

prime spot on the bank, the then girlfriend feinted and footy took to medical.

had to give up prime spot.

ignorant United fans thought fjortoft was celebrating with a Munich airplane.

But this day is very significant for me. Because United were my childhood team. it marks the day I knew I loved Swindon as my only club

Missed it due to being a skint student up north. Did get to Forest that day on a free ticket. Not quite the same.
Got funny looks celebrating one of our goals though!
Collymore had been injured. Came on as a sub in the second half, promptly scored a fifteen minutes hat-trick and then got sent off. Interesting but would have rather been at the County Ground.

Had my very first ST in the Arkells with my ex FIL. Missed the QPR home win due to an arthroscopy at PMH and couldn’t bend my knee. Went to Arsenal away, my eldest DNA was born in the February of that season, hence the only away game with a pregnant wife and a ST it was difficult to do and justify anymore games.

Just look where we are now and with the exception of the DR stand the ground is a pit of dispair.

Anfield, Highfield Road, Hillsborough were all great performances. The excitement going into Bramhall Lane on the first day.

Highbury was the most special ground. I remember the Red Gun motifs on the toilet tiles.
