Filling in for the absent Nemo.

A few candidates, my vote goes to McEachran who was near faultless for me.

Felt McEachran glued that performance together nicely.

Thought Brewitt was decent but FBT was better, second half especially, so he gets my vote today.

Young had a heavy touch today but still caused a few problems which is encouraging.

Mahoney made 2 or 3 very good saves.

Dokes, FBT and Brewitt all had good games.

Khan gave the ball away too often in dangerous positions today but I wouldnt drop him, he still played well otherwise.

Uwakwe had a poor game not like last week where he was unplayable.

Hutton did well going forwards but left us exposed at the back a few times.

McEachran covered every blade of grass and looked far more solid defensively today.

Kemp not at his best but still played ok.

Youngs poorest game for Town for me so far.

Austin contributed a lot all over the pitch and scored a great header but bringing on RHM for his pace changed the game and set up the win.

RHM his pace will change games and he was brought on just as Walsalls defenders got tired, perfect, and he ran them ragged.

Shade looked lively and had 1 shot just wide, looked handy when he came on again.

I thought Brewitt was superb today.

FBT did play well and very pleased for Charlie to get us to the perfect start

Just catching up but it sounds like confirmation that Jody Morris’ biggest achievement as Swindon manager was digging Brewitt and McEachran out of the Rolodex and for that alone he deserves some credit.

Brewitt for me but could quite easily have been a number of others especially McEachran.

Any ideas why Walsall fans see us such rivals these days?

Do we also give Lindsey credit for RHM then? (See Crawley won again today)

If Lindsey brought him to the club then yes.

Brewitt and McEachran were personal contacts of Morris (Brewitt through Beale of Rangers). Not sure RHM is of Lindsey but happy to be corrected!

No massive standout performances for me. Went for McEachran.

Can’t remember any notable mistakes. Was positionally disciplined, which is needed when the CBs burst forward. Broke up play well and helped the back 3 get out without fuss when they did press us high.

FBT
Brewitt and McE very close second.

FBT was excellent breaking forward as well as his defensive duties.
That tackle first half.🙌

brewitt for me. Proving a lot of people wrong (me included). saw him as a squad player, clearly showing he’s far more than that. Won everything today. Warrior

FBT close second, was everywhere.

(On RHM, fairly sure he was recommended by the old S&C team/someone close to them, did rehab at one of their main gyms, then did a lot of rehab here (said this on kitman pod), then got signed a few months after. Whoever found him- superb find, raw menace and an absolute menace for centre halves to play.

Think what is very clear is that a fair few of our players have benefitted hugely from having a pre-season that they didn't get under their belts last term.

I think it's also fair to say that basically every player that has got minutes this season has contributed in some way instead of merely coming off the bench to make up the numbers.

McEachran closely followed by Brewitt, FBT and Doakes.

The whole bloody lot of them.   Certainly seem to have bonded as a team.  Young and Kemp a little off the pace, but that’s to be expected after the previous run of games.  Can’t really fault any of them, looking like a squad we’ve not seen for years, dedication wise.

FBT is like a Rolls-Royce when he moves forward.
Largely a cigar and smoking jacket afternoon for Brewitt, one good turn of pace to take charge of a situation in the 2nd half & mainly faultless throughout.

But went for McEachran.
One great turn to get out of a tight spot and covered a lot of ground. Makes the team tick.
Maturing very nicely.

Out yesterday so not caught up with the game but interesting that the most votes are for Brewitt but the most posts for FBT/McEachran. Brewitt is the silent majority choice it seems. Great to see our defence doing well though!

Went for Brewitt edged it just in front of FBT and McEachran.

The fact that Brewitt, McEachran and RHM were all bumbling around not in English league football makes me wonder how many other players are out there that just need the bit of interest from the club to see if they could actually “make it”. I guess that we do not have the scouting set up that the wealthier clubs do and probably rely on agents pushing their clients.

Yes, it has definitely changed my perception of 'the scrapheap'. I think as both Academies have got bigger and EFL squads have got smaller post Covid, there must be many more young players out there in the wilderness who can do a job, especially given a proper preseason.

Both Brewitt and McEachran showed there was something to work with in a dismal team last year but the preseason has really seen them kick on and show they can have an EFL career.

Proof if ever it was needed that players need to be given a chance to prove themselves.

same difference.

the problem with scoring so many is that the opposition double up on you. That's fine, we have Charlie and RHM to exploit the gaps

Nice to see there are so many options this season.
Last season most games best option was ‘ none of the above’.

Was obvious right from the KO that Young was a target. Additionally we thought that the ref let an awful lot go and had we had the opening game ref, one sending off could have been three, thankfully not as it turned out.

Of course, Brewitt, McEachran, RHM are all ex PL academy with England representative honours at junior level. McKirdy was the same so the ability was  there but regular game time is giving them a chance to show it.

I reckon he must be about 4th or 5th on cumulative MOTM votes this season. Young and Kemp out front presumably.

He's above Young, there's a serious Brewitt block vote every week, I think basically just pushing back against the cognoscenti - he even got votes when we conceded three goals. Kemp is ahead but not by a lot, neck and neck.

I voted for him in that game, rightly or wrongly, more for the fact that he had to pretty much do the job of 3 men and we still won the game.

I’ve voted for him a few times, not to play silly buggers but because I honestly thought he did his job well.

Never voted for him if he didn’t deserve it.

But the cognoscenti want to take that away from him and cast it as a protest vote!  :D

(I’m taking the piss but the parallels never end!)

I take a performance over 90 minutes. A defender is likely to have more to do by way of heading, tackling etc than other players. If he does that well over the course of a game, as he did Saturday, I’ll vote for him.

I think Brewitt has been good and everything but Young has had an absolute dream start, won division player of the month and is a now fairly distant third in our voting.

But hey, isn't it lovely to have multiple good candidates rather than scrapping around for who was the least bad?
