Title: Talisman or Jinx?
Post by: sir windon on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, 11:37:02
So how did the Town perform on the occasions you were present this season?
No judgements on how many games attended. We all have our reasons.
Here's my record for '22/'23.
                                          HOME                  AWAY
P    W  D  L   F    A       P   W  D  L   F   A     P  W  D  L  F  A
15  7   4  4  26   14     11  5   3  3  18  9     4  2   1  1  8  5

I watched every game bar 1 on iFollow.

The 1 game I managed to attend in person was the home defeat to Stockport.

I was at about 6 or 7 this season but I can't really remember which if I'm honest apart from I was definitely at the Gunningball thrashing as a high point and the absolute dire Crawley away as a low point.

Seriously Don’t think you’d have been the problem on your own !!.  Just a shit season - upwards and onwards.

I usually only get to 1-2 away games a season, but couldn't be bothered with any this year.

I genuinely cannot remember the last time I saw us win!

Missed one at home & five away in the league.
We didn't lose in any of them.

Home vs Colchester - Win 1-0
Home vs Tranmere - Draw 1-1
Away vs Northampton - Win 2-1
Away vs Orient - Draw 1-1

I'm convinced I went to another home game but after looking through the fixtures can't remember if I did or not. Wouldn't exactly say I was talismanic or jinx!

Normally I tend to do ok in terms of results/being at some of the more exciting games but it didn't work out this year.

I tried to work this out and honestly gave up! Couldn't distinguish between real memories and iFollow memories!

I feel like my in-person PPG were marginally higher than the team's average so, whilst not a Talisman, I am a mild positive.

That is my problem too.

As one of those too far away from the CG to attend, and only manage a small number of the most northerly away games, I'm really glad PV stays at home. His coverage of games on here is far superior to either the BBC (crap) and the
Adver (inconsistent), and, along with a few
others, provides great commentary for which I am really grateful.

Many thanks, TBH I am glad I live 110 miles away at times as it saves me going to watch that crap :)

Try nearly 4k miles, really takes the edge off.

I didn't attend a single game this season, which clearly explains the shitness, other than the fact the last three games I've come back for we haven't even scored in.

Saw us thrash Grimsby and lose to Crewe.

I definitely attended more but can’t even remember which game(s) it was…

Home: W8 D4 L5 GF28 GA18 (28 pts from 17)
Away: W3 D4 L4 GF12 GA17 (13 pts from 11)

So, slightly better than average but overall a fair sample of the shit season!

Hear, hear.

I make 1/4 games usually but, when ifollow-ing, Venks' contributions to the match threads are a great accompaniment.

Cheers mate. :pint:

My record...

Plus quite a few i follows... What an utterly joyless experience that was (apart from Orient which was 'OK')

Anyone else remember the Premier League season when we finally got a win against QPR: The Adver rounded up about a dozen people who'd never been to a match before, with that one being their first, and tried to get them to go to the next one in case they were lucky charms?

(Spoiler warning: they weren't.)
