Title: Day Five: HUN/POR, FRA/GER
Post by: Nemo on Tuesday, June 15, 2021, 08:09:58
Only two games today, how will we cope?

On the other hand, one of them is France v Germany. What a game that would be if only two went through, but should be fun anyway.

Looking forward to the France v Germany game. I wonder what the intent will be.  Go for it or park the bus? Think I would prefer a Germany win but not overly bothered either way.  Given that 3 can qualify from a group, is it really a group of death?

They had a better chance in '56.

Jeez! There’s a national anthem that’s more of a dirge than ours. Hungary - what were you thinking?

Stadium in Hungary looks rammed

Lot of shithousery going on here. Semedo of Portugal looks a right prick.

Red card incoming!

They paid a price to get there - one of the highest ratio's of deaths per capita in the world.  Been pretty rapid at vaccination though.

Never seen so many so-called professionals throwing themselves to the ground. It’s embarrassing.

Pepe's been like this for about 20 years at this point.

There is much I would like to say about Portugal, but I will hold my tongue until we have played them otherwise it will probably cost me :-)

Agreed it's embarrassing to watch so many cheats on display

The spirit this game is being played in is completely at odds with the rest of the tournament. Both sets of players throwing themselves to the floor at any opportunity

That linesman is going to have a tricky evening.

They’re told to do that now.

As much as France have looked the better side, they haven’t actually had a shot on target in the 70 mins played

Fair assessment, other than the offside goal

Germany have looked average but did have a spell.

still, only the first game I suppose

I wish Germany had black shorts and France white.  Both kits would like much better like that.

M'Bappe vs the German CBs is quite a mismatch in pace  :bye:

I'm looking forward to Portugal Germany where they just kick lumps out of each other and have a battle of shithousery.

That's been two German 'tackles' this evening from the Harald Schumacher school of challenging French players.

Sent from my SM-A125F

I have no idea what to make of those two teams.  It could just be a case of two good teams sort of cancelling each other out and France are not going to concede many on that showing.  But, Germany looked lost, certainly compared to previous versions of their team.  No real urgency, no real plan, just passed it around a lot.

Too slow in the build up as was the case in the World Cup. Don't rate Portugal but they could very well be too physical on Saturday

When you need a goal & you bring on Werner you know you are in trouble

Indeed, the issue this there are no out & out strikers in the squad hence the cluelessness

No focal point up front.
Exactly the same as Spain and even Croatia.

I thought that at the time but assumed nothing as there wasn't anything made of it. It did look like it in my eyes.

looked like it but watched Pogba and he didn't appear to flinch like you would expect someone to do when bitten.

If he didn't bite him then what the hell was he doing, just giving him a quick peck on the shoulder!

Whole thing was just odd.
