Twine - the only player on either team who showed some quality and not just his goal.

Pitman for me, scored again and looked a threat all game, did very well. Twine also looked good and Garrick did better again in his proper position when the manager actually plays Twine and Garrick to their strengths, its amazing the results you can get.

I also went for Twine, but Caddis did well also, and his block at 1-1 was crucial.

90 minutes Pitman for showing his experience when we needed it.
Twine did well but gets knocked off the ball. Second half Conroy played superbly after a poor first half where we simply didn’t get going.
Verdict: Overall Pork Pie Pele.

That would have been a huge experience for Matthews. He's clearly not ready yet but that's not his fault, and the only way to get ready is to play. It must be a real boost for him that he played in a game that we won and although he should have done better for their goal, he also played his part in preventing more.

Yeah he'll look back fondly at his league game when he inevitably ends up at highworth town or cirencester or wherever

Totally agree. I was considering him for an honorary MoM but I think the timing of Twine's goal and both him being the only influence in Town's midfield meant he got it.

PPP get's special mention as does Garrick and the shithousery from Caddy. You need a good mix of experience in a relegation battle. Pitman has the goals (however they come about) or awareness to be in the right place or be involved. Caddy has the knowledge to do game management correctly.

MoM: Twine

Liked Twine but went for Garrick. He was a menace today.

Pitman led the line superbly. His vision and all round play way good too. He put Twine in with a gorgeous defence splitting pass and also teed Garrick up on several occasions.

Garrick is a limited player, but played with confidence today, using his pace and tenacity to set up Pitman. Only thing he did wrong was take a dive when Pitman put him through.

Twine was spraying the ball around everywhere in the first half. Again, vision and execution was spot on and he was the creative energy in an otherwise sub-par midfield. Created less in the second half but did his defensive duties well too. Only negative is that he goes down too quickly.

But, the win wouldn't have happened today without Pitman.

You can see with Pitman the football brain is still there it's just the legs are letting him down.

We know he isn't quite physical enough for this level but do you think it might be (in part) because he's being primed for a future move further up the pyramid?

It's my thinking that higher up the divisions a player goes the less physical the game generally becomes and officials tend to give free kicks more for what would be perceived as less.

Twine has the technical ability to develop and play higher up. Any club higher up would be looking at him as a longer term project. Managed well, I don't think he needs a huge amount of bulking up - look at Dele Alli and Son as examples of similar build technical players/wizards.
