Title: Top 10 STFC subs
Post by: Flashheart on Saturday, November 28, 2020, 18:53:32
We might be able to make a poll out of this if we get enough contenders.

I'll start:

Tom Broadbent. 28/11/2020 away vs Oxford United

Does the Sofiane Zabooub game v Bristol Rovers where we managed to get sent off by Rob Styles in about two minutes count or are you only looking for positives rather than memorable?

Christian Roberts v Sheffield Wednesday some time in the 90s

actually I don't remember if he came on, or whether he moved position when someone else came on.

Craig Easton last 10mins v Leeds away in 2010. Just for the absolute ridiculousness of being 3 nil up, at Leeds.

It was from then with about 6 games to go, we should have cemented our auto spot to the Champ. That was a bloody tough and tight league that season (bar Norwich).

Miles Storey against Villa, resulted in a couple of years of some fans pining for him to play all the time.

James Collins will win this though as he scored 4 off the bench against Pompey.

Fuzzy heads are understandable today. It was 2004.

I believe we beat Hull City 4-2 four days later and Roberts was amazing again. Then the following month we stuck another four past Sheffield Wednesday to knock them out of the FA Cup.

Think Fallon was the sub and Roberts moved to a wide left forward and for 20 minutes played like a white, chavvy Thierry Henry.

Charlie Henry at home to Cambridge United, November 1985 i think (from memory). Scored after being on the pitch about 7 seconds.

What about Cameron Belford 2015 - his brother gets sent off, he comes on in goal and saves a pen with his first touch!

Jimmy Quinn coming off the bench in 82 away at Hereford comes to mind, Town were 1-0 down and Quinn came on after 70 mins and set 1 up and scored the winner in an early season game.

Also Charlie Henry in the home play off semi vs Gills in 87, came off the bench at HT when it was 0-1 to score the winner in a 2-1 win.

It was a great year. Superb playoffs and brilliant experience at Selhurst Park. Driving back through London and down the M4 with red and white everywhere will be something I never forget.

Love them all but think Broadbent yesterday will live long in the memory of many fans especially because it was the pox.

Should have started ahead of David Lucas more often in that season.

Can't forget Moses Ahikodi v Huddersfield, 2008.

Brought off the bench 77 mins, subbed off 12 mins later.

Was that the game where he had a yellow card before he'd touched the ball?

Adi Viveash subbed 20 mins after coming on for his debut in a very unfamiliar role of left winger vs Middlesborough in 1990 at home. He looked like he had never even seen a football before.

Yep! Applause at the end, he milked it but I think it was slightly ironic.
