Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 15:12:21 .....7-0......Thorpe 3 missed about 6...Jutkiewicz 2 on debut I believe...Nicolau 1 Holgate1.
Nicolau should play on Sat....very impressive albeit against a a youthful Bormuff side. Title: Re: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 15:15:42 Jutkiewicz is our young striker, top scorer in the milk cup a season or so a go.
7-0 is very impressive against any side, I think Thorpe has justified at least a place on the bench with a hat trick. Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 15:16:38 Youth team player...only about 16 or 17 ....big lad.....very raw but scored 2 from 2 whereas Thorpey scored 3 from 6......
Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 15:17:22 I finished college at 12:30, wish I'd gone over :(
That's how Thorpe should be trying to impress and get his place back in the first team, much improved attitude. Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Obviously a hat-trick is good but wondered how he looked!

Good entertainment as ever......clever ground based football with Woan and Iffy in charge....McDermott looks like Pook.....quiet start but did some good stuff as game went on, but nothing wonderful.......Justin Mckay played well likes a tackle which makes a change.....Holgate lots of clever touches. if Bormuff have to rely on these kids if they have injuries etc, then they're in trouble this season. Thing is he should have had 6 or 7.....kept on being put in by clever play from Holgate or NN and kept on missing....still I suppose he kept his head up for a hat trick. Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Of course its a big step up from our reserves level to first team...when you consider the likes of Slabber and John Stephenson were regulars at Prem reserve level, but not good enough for league football....it gives an idea of the gap. Still it does no harm to see lads playing good stuffand having a bit of spirit. Watching....Fallon, Pook, O'Hanlon....and Matty Heywood  Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: Titch on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 16:00:58 Matty Heywood! Is he getting bored of shitty already?
Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 16:01:09 I could have given Fallon a lift from Abingdon! :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: walrus on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 16:29:32 Play Thorpe. Send the message that if he works he'll be in the team. I think you're a touch harsh Reg - every striker misses chances, just look at Andy Cole. The fact he hit a hat-trick and has a proven pedigree means he deserves a chance in the first team - a proper chance, not a couple of guest appearances in pointless cup competitions, or the odd league game.
Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: Spencer_White on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 17:11:39 Andy Cole, what a good example.

The lad Allen in particular? Came on for Mcdermot i think? Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 17:17:09 Quote from: "Walrus" Play Thorpe. Au contraire....I was offering the Thorpedo nothing but undiluted support....unlike most of the rest who :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: ed uncontrollably as another sitter wafted past the post or over the bar....or the fella involved in the spat with King on Sat, who summed up Thorpe's career in a few succinct words and suggested he may care to relocate his work circumstance, for all to hear. I think Tony was undecided if the applause for his leaving the arena, was because we were happy to see him go or credit due for his hat trick. Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Really, that is very harsh and isn't going to help in my opinion. :? Any player who gets a hat trick has done extremely well even if they miss a few other chances, if he'd scored all of them he'd have had a double hat trick and those are incredibly rare so 3 goals in 70 minutes is impressive enough. Andy Cole is renowned for scoring a lot of goals AND for missing a lot of chances - in his autobiography he writes of his frustration at constantly being told he needed 5 chances to score a goal. Okay, the two players play at different levels but it's the same idea. The bloke who criticised Thorpe for all to hear is a cunt. End of. The same has happened to Rory and he bounced back, I sincerely hope Thorpy can do the same. Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Title: Reserves v Bormuff... Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 17:46:31 Do you know this bloke Reg? Does sound pretty stupid, not really going to help his attitude much or get the best from him. Was this before or after Thorpe had scored?

Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 18:22:16 Maybe, I do think this kind of thing makes a difference though. Ok, his attitude's not been great at times but he's a Swindon player and should be given more of a chance. I just don't agree with abusing your own teams players at all.
