Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: larwood on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 08:06:05 Am i the only one who finds the constant criticism in the media of the England team very boring?I don't care how bad the writers thought the game was,we won like we had too.The way the media go on you'd have thought that beckham had been sent off and sven had been caught indulging in a spot of sheep bothering. :)
Its all just hype of course, but it is probably one of the major reasons why i can't seem to get worked up about england games anymore, even important games,i just find myself switching off  .I find this to be very sad, cause the reason i got into football in the first place was because of the england team during italia 90,now i am only slightly interested and the only teams i really care about are Swindon and the England cricket team. Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Titch on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 09:05:29 I am with you on this one. The press really do greatly piss me off, not just with regards this. There is no much negativity in the press it is horrible.
England did a job, they did it pretty well and comfortably really. Get off their backs. The press just creates more pressure which does affect performance. Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Reg Smeeton on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 10:12:48 100% right Harold.......what really annoys me is wastrels like Robbie Fowler having a pop in the media because he's got a book out.
WC qualifiers are no more than that...get the points job done....Italy showed how difficult it can be to win in a footballing backwater. Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 12:38:46 Yeah I agree, it's as if the press expects England to win at least 4-0 against every lesser footballing nation, football doesn't work like that and it would be pretty boring if it did. England won and deserved to win and our unbeaten qualification record is as good as any other team so the criticism is not really appropriate.
Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Batch on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 20:15:32 The press seem to be at the stage of wanting Swen out, and they usually get their way though this time I think he will stay until our 2006 campaign is over.
Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 20:27:13 I think the press have got bored of Sven, he's done ok but at £4million a year you'd expect him to be good. He's not really done that much yet, he's just done alright but I don't think he deserves the sack at the moment. We should have kept Hoddle though, he is a legend.
Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: DV on Tuesday, September 6, 2005, 20:43:34 If Chelsea win like that the media kisses their ass and claims its how champions play...
Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Spud on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 04:54:50 Bring in Big Sam Allardyce or Stuart Pearce. :)

He got lucky when we beat the Germans 1-5! That's why he's still in this job - it gave the FA too much faith in him, so they rewarded him with a mamouth contract. Sven's not going to quit a £4 mill a year job, and the FA cannot sack him as it would mean a massive payout. Hopefully after next summer we will be a Sven free country. 8) Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Spud on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 14:31:12 I want to see an England manager with a bit of passion, he sat there against Wales with no emotion on his face whatsoever, i want a manager that will get up and scream his fecking head off at ythe players if they're playing crap till you can see the veins popping out his neck.

I dont really see what screaming at international quality players is going to achieve. Its not a pub team. Before Keegan was appointed the press and general public were all for someone to motivate the players and jump around. That worked out well didnt it? Its called motivation, we need a manager who isnt scared of dropping the top players instead of the team picking itself. Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Titch on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 14:55:20 Ah, but there are many ways to motivate players! Surely there is also a difference between shouting at players and actually having the bottle to drop them!

Big Fillipe Scolari of ex-Brazil and Portugal fame. He has bollocks, and will not be scared to drop the big name players if needs be - look how well taking Figo off against us worked - Sven would never take of Becks to try to change a game. Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 15:00:54 Big Fil is quality, I've always thought he has the attitude of an old school English manager - love him!

I agree we need someone to have the bottle to drop big players, that should be a pre-requsite to any job like this. But i still dont think we need a shouter-per-say. Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: larwood on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 15:28:17 Correct me if i'm wrong but isn't kingy a shouter? :)
I don't mind sven, but it would be nice to have a bit of excitement when watching England again,i find myself not really caring. :( In the past we would play well and lose in heart- breaking fashion on pens, now we just lose in major tournaments like we deserve to cause we've have been shit. Now i'm not sure if thats because of sven or if its cause our team are tired,i just don't know. Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Spencer_White on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 15:33:45 Kingy for England.
Can you imagine his weekly outbursts in the Sun and the Mirror? :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: adje on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 15:42:52 Yes Qualifiers are qualifiers and the result is all important,That would be a good argument if we ever perform impressively in the final stages-but we dont.
Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: DV on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 15:49:35 One name: Jose Mourinho
Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 15:52:00 ... would never manage England.

see? Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: larwood on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 16:21:35 I don't belive Mourinho would want to manage us,when at chelsea he gets paid a massive amount of money and can seem to buy whoever the fuck he wants.Plus the way the premiershit dominates not just here but also around the world, you could say the chelsea job is bigger, national teams aren't as important anymore, higher league teams make most of the money.Any way why would the chosen one want the England job where all he'll get is constant criticisim,at stamford bridge he is a king.

Title: Wales v England post-mortem Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Wednesday, September 7, 2005, 17:53:10 The time to sack sven would be after the world cup if we don't win it or come very close, unless we somehow manage to fuck up the remaining qualifiers which would take some doing, then he would deserve the sack now.
