Title: Whats Pinehurst Like?
Post by: horlock07 on Friday, September 13, 2019, 13:10:55
Might seem a strange question, however bear with me.

I have a vague recollection of visiting my nan when I was a kid who lived on Pinehurst Road, now my old man has sent me a load of pictures and postcards which includes postcards from abroad his dad (my grand dad) sent to his mum (my great grandma) during the war which suggests that they lived in Linden Avenue (which a google suggests is also Pinehurst). They all look to have been built as Council houses, entirely understandable as the whole male family seemed to work in either the works or bacon factory?

I am unlikely to set foot in Swindon for the foreseeable I am just interested what its like these days?

Absolute shithole. The roads are bad, even for Swindon and there's litter everywhere. There's still a load of post WW2 prefab tin houses.

I vaguely remember the pre-fabs! Always knew I was from good stock :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:.

Never lived there but as Jay says, the post WW2 tin houses leave a lot to be desired.

Is that good? My old man had moved to the heady heights of West Oxon before I rolled up, with an interlude in Purton.

Looking on Google I reck my nans and great grand parents lived in the 1920/30's Council houses, I vaguely remember the pre-fabs, but to be honest I was normally too excited to be visiting the Railway Museum in Faringdon Road when I came down to see nan.

Arguably worse.

Moonrakers?

That's definitely in Penhill.
