Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: FlashGordon on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 00:22:06 ...It isnt an i love him he should come back thread, just a topic of discussion.
Whilst watching Parkin for Ipswich today he was being ironically jeered everytime he did something with the ball etc and didnt look to be up to much during the match,it looks as if he is struggling in the league above, This is my point - once a player finds his level should he not continue to stay at that level and perform consistantly well in a side and be a hero, rather than thinking alot of themselves going to a higher level and failing, therefore lowering confidence and possibly never being able to return to their once best form? As in dont leave a good thing? Parkin tried to succeed for years in league football, when he finally did it was with us then a few years later an ego and ambition got the better of him and he left for a higher league? He's not performing well and although hiensight (sp?!) is the best sight should players leave a good thing, when their careers are going well and possibly try and achieve their ambition with the club they are good for? Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: Spud on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 00:34:14 I think every footballer wants to test himself against the best so in my view NO he wasnt wrong to go up a level. You've got to remember Ipswich sold a hell of alot of players and Parkin and the others who have come in have got a huge burden resting on their shoulders. 8)
Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: Leggett on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 00:39:58 he'll come good. you dont score over 20 goals for 3 seasons in a row by being just good enough for this level... you need to test yourself, see if he can cut the mustard at a higher level. and i think he can...
Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: FlashGordon on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 09:51:34 Cool. Just was wondering if players should leave a good thing
Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: le god cuervo on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 10:04:15 parkin will come good, just a few ipswich nob faces being impatient. just like we are with cureton 8)
Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: Ralphy on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 11:30:43 Cureton is greedy though, i don't see him doing much.
So annoyed i have him on my shirt. Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: Tails on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 11:37:22 Setting up a quarter of our goals. Yeah, greedy bastard :-))(

Yeah, greedy bastard :-))( WOW! id sooner have him banging them in like strikers are suppose to!, next you'll be telling me Tony Thorpe has won loads of free kicks when he's played..... Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: sonicyouth on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 12:32:14 I don't think he was wrong to step up a level, he's ambitious and it was the right thing for him. I'm surprised by how quickly the Ipswich fans have got on his back though, he's scored twice already.
Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 13:36:26 There is a difference between greediness and ambition.
I think Parkin was far too good for this level as he proved by tearing apart the Leeds defence. He will come good for Ipswich, how can you expect him to play well in a side that loses 4-0? Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: Tails on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 13:49:04 I think some of you think Parkins better than he actually was...
I don't see how you want him to bang in goals yet call him greedy! He has to be greedy to score surely? Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: OOH! SHAUN TAYLOR on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 16:08:16 He'd have been a dumb ass not to accept a 4 year deal at Ipswich. You've got to have faith in your ability and with his scoring record Parkin had to give it a go. He's scored two goals alread so he's not doing that badly. I think he will do ok at that level without being spectacular.
He hardly got a touch yesterday but then Ipswich were played off the park by a very impressive looking Preston side. Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: reeves4england on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 16:15:23 But the fans blamed SSP

Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: Bob's Orange on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 19:41:00 A while back people were questioning Leroy Lita being worth £1 million and Sam only £500,000. I thought at the time that Lita would be a bigger success in the Championship than Sam and so far he is proving me correct!

Lita is playing in a better team that is creating more chances, if Parkin was at Reading and Lita at Ipswich I bet Parkin would have more goals Title: Although this is about parkin... They would make a shit hot partnership I reckon. Title: Although this is about parkin... Post by: FlashGordon on Tuesday, August 30, 2005, 19:56:52 Is shit actually hot though?
