What runs by vautour and thistlecrack. My 4-timer with limini and Fingal Bay still alive but no real idea why I put Fingal Bay in it!

Surely Djakadam  (spelling?) is a must for the Gold Cup tomorrow after pissing all over Vautour when working together back in Ireland.

They don't work together

Djakadam fell at the January meeting when not under too much pressure. If he gets around then he's in contention but there are some good horses like Cue Card, Don Cossack and Don Poli. Not sure if 7/2 is value now against those and Djakadam was 6-1 on Sunday.

No. He said Vautour only worked at 90%. He didn't mention the stayer. I'm telling you, not speculating.

Had a good week. About £200 up. Had the first winner today but not a thing after that. Had Djakadam won I would have been laughing.
Can't complain though, in profit.
Off to Aintee the day before the national so looking forward to that now.

Best ever Festival with 6 winners and if Cue Card had stayed on it would have been the icing on the cake - great racing week - good spread of favourites and fair priced outsiders getting home - total distraction for the whole week - love it

Managed to finish tidily up despite a blank Friday - going to an excellent Preview evening the week before has certainly helped focus the attention the last couple of years.

But really, this isn't about making or losing a few quid.  It's about being alive every March and celebrating life and all its twists, turns, quirks and oddities.

And much as I love the Festival, I'm hopeless, useless, at remembering horses and details, the facts and figures that make the game.

However, to be there to see, hear and hell, feel, Sprinter Sacre pounding up that hill will beat inside me every one of the 360 days until the Supreme Novices kicks us off again...and at least we won't have a leap year to delay us in 2017.

I was down on the rail for that, it was certainly a bit special!

Just out of interest have you ever set foot on a racecourse, your description seems to perfectly follow that portrayed in the media (dare I say the Mail :-[ ) but bears very little resemblance to what actually happens.

FWIW I and I suspect the vast majority have never worn a hat nor sipped champagne on a racecourse - it's not the class issue many love you to think...
