Title: The Social Inclusion Football League
Post by: spacey on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, 18:05:31
Hello, I hope you are all well.

Swindon are doing well with footballs recently. Anyway, enough of that nonsense, I need your help.

My brother runs a football league for people who are socially isolated due to their experiences with mental health, homelessness, substance misuse or learning difficulties (I copied and pasted that). He's trying to get funding via the National Lottery to help secure the league's future. If you could spare a few moments to vote and help him out you'd be doing a beautiful thing.

You can vote here https://www.thepeoplesprojects.org.uk/projects/view/the-social-inclusion-football-league and watch a video of him talking about it and looking marginally cooler than me.

Cheers.

Lovely stuff, thanks!

He's only cooler by a really small amount. You'd barely notice it.

So if I support a good cause (I don't know, something like flotation aids for disabled dolphins) and post a video where I look as cool as his brother will you finally ask for my number?  :hmmm:

Done Spacey, all the best to them. See, I do still love you really x

Thank you so much. You're support will go a long way to changing the lives of many, many people.

If I come to the ticket office will you sort me out one of those 'special concession' tickets again?

Interesting project, however I'm not sure setting up a "special" football league should be described as social inclusion. A football team with players who are homeless, people with substance issues and mental health problems competing in a "normal" league yeah but this sounds a bit stigmatised. Sorry to be negative.

That's an interesting point you raise and I put it to my brother. He immediately closed down the entire project and told the lot of them to fuck off.

I'd have thought marking out a team as "special" playing against "normal" teams would be more stigmatic (is that a word?) as it emphasises the difference.

Done btw.

I'm cooler than the lot of you because I've turned up late to the party, and now I'm off to look for somewhere more fun. But only after I've voted.

I have sat on grant funding committees on many occasions in my career, but what do I know.

The game between smack head city v learning disability wanderers will require some strong refereeing

Yeah, it's a proper grudge match that one. Last season the Inner City Smack Heads and the Blue Badge Casuals had a right tear up in the car park.
