We really could do with sneaking a win against a side who have not won in the league since the 20th October. 1-0 (Ajose) will suit me down to the ground thank you very much. Title: Re: Colchester v Swindon Match Day Thread Post by: Costanza on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 08:42:25 1-1.

Title: Re: Colchester v Swindon Match Day Thread Post by: Peter Venkman on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 14:16:08 Interesting line up, a few changes, some enforced.
Iandolo is an unusual one but Williams obviously thinks hes ready as Traore, Thompson L or even Hylton would have been the more obvious replacements. Roberts must be injured, he has been carrying an injury for a while now. Not much cover at the back on the bench though. Title: Re: Colchester v Swindon Match Day Thread Post by: Bob's Orange on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 14:23:40 Of course I hope I'm wrong but our lack of squad depth is a little worrying.
Apart from Ajose and Obika I think that's a weak side. Colchester have a lot of experience in theirs. Title: Re: Colchester v Swindon Match Day Thread Post by: Batch on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 14:32:05 very weak team, on paper. hope they prove me wrong, they usually do..

First half was extremely frustrating until we scored. We passed it around very well in the middle third but were really apprehensive in the final third. We started the second half at a much better tempo and were far more incisive. A great run from Turnbull and finish from Ajose for the second, an absolute corker from Doughty for the third and it was pretty much game over. Louis coming back is a massive bonus and I have to say, I've not always been Vigs' biggest fan but he's growing on me. I hope we can sign him in the summer. Title: Colchester v Swindon Match Day Thread Post by: LittleRed on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 19:31:14 Good game today. Vigouroux did well as at times we rode our luck. Good to see l Thompson come back. The score in the end matched the performance. One player of note I thought was Elliot lee playing for Colchester on loan from West Ham I thought he was the best player for them by a country mile. Nearly home now.

PdC's Div 3 part season was 7, and even 85/86 was only 6, in fact we never scored 5 in a game under Macari. Title: Re: Colchester v Swindon Match Day Thread Post by: molepar on Saturday, February 13, 2016, 22:49:00 I think the score line flattered us today to be honest. Vigs had to pull off a couple of good saves and Nathan's mistake nearly cost us. Colchester were poor at finishing and lacking confidence but actually looked more dangerous around the box than we did for large parts of the game. Their final ball was lacking though. Great 1st goal from Doughty. I thought Brophy and Iandolo did well. For those who said Iandolo didn't do anything, I would disagree, I thought he looked tidy in the ball with good vision. Rodgers was guff once again - he reminds me of a very poor Joe Allen. I think the only time he played the ball forwards he tried a 50 yard cross field ball that went out for a goal kick or a throw in. Drissa did much better when he came on. Barry and Branco were okay but probably would have been shown up against better teams.
Barry tried some stupid skill on the halfway line when we were winning and ended up giving the ball away and Colchester broke. That kind of sloppiness will be punished by most teams in the league. When we were 3-0 up we looked quite comfortable and were good value for a win overall but that margin probably didn't reflect the game fairly. Considering it was Nathan T who set up Ajose's first some good creative contributions from Central defence today.

Spot on, his strength is attacking crosses in the box not like Nile Ranger where any ball kicked up to him would stick like glue. Blackpool v Oldham. Draw would be good with Blackpool getting a couple of reds. Bury v Sheff U. Bury in freefall, got to see a Blades win ColU v Chesterfield. If Chesterfield don't get the three here, they're in major trouble. ColU looking a bit terminal now though. Rochdale v Crewe. Rochdale need to halt their slump, but Crewe seem to do this every year, look as if they're doomed and then pick up a bit in the new year. Blackpool v Oldham desired draw....no sign of red cards, but you can't have everything. ColU v Chesterfield, Spireites scraped a point with 10 men, but they needed to be getting 3....now in trouble as Crewe are starting to put their annual late run together.
