Title: Please be careful
Post by: ronnie21 on Monday, December 21, 2015, 07:45:00
Guys and gals, yesterday I travelled to a family reunion with the Yorkshire branch of our family.  I won't go into too much detail but sadly on the A6 between Kegworth and Loughborough I witnessed a fatal collision.  My son and myself did all we could do for the occupants of one car, sadly there was nothing we could do for the other driver - the worst part was seeing him hanging upside down in the car and nobody unable to do anything for him, a baby seat in the back of the car - a vision that is haunting me.  I will not apportion any blame for the accident - the experts will do that - but I do believe excessive speed to be a major factor, there could have been other factors but I just do not know.  Two families' Christmas have been ruined, one permanently.  Please, please be careful out there, it was s sombre drive back to Swindon I can assure you.

Ronnie, make sure you get counselling if you need it.

Seen a fair bit of carnage myself over the years. Have got 2 people out of cars on separate occasions but fortunately not fatal's.
Nearly always driver errors cause these accidents. Many drivers seem to think they're invincible.
Not nice to see but as these incidents are on the rise again the chances of seeing, and God forbid being involved in are possible.
Like the title  of the thread says. Be careful!

Hope you're ok Ronnie. Well done for helping.

Pretty awful stuff Ronnie. Get some counselling as Batch said, witnessing something like that can affect people in so many different ways.

Well done for helping Ronnie, as others have said, talk to somebody about it.

Top man for helping, I'm not sure I would have been that brave. I also echo what others have said about counselling, harrowing experiences don't go away easily.

I wasn't brave, adrenaline kicked in and I did what most people would have done I guess. If only I knew more about first aid perhaps we could have done something but I think the guy who died was almost instantaneous.  Just so sad that a young guy lost his life, have heard that two of the other people in the second car have been discharged from hospital and the third is not badly injured which has come as a relief to me and my son.

I echo the thoughts of the other posters.. Well done for helping, adrenaline kicking in or not, you still helped. Believe me, not a lot of people have the balls to do so.

You may not already know, but I myself am in the ambulance service, so if you need a chat to talk things through, I'm happy to do so (just drop me a message).. I may not be able to put your mind at ease, but it may help to get things off your chest.
