I met a guy the other night in London who referred to himself as one of the first Swindians (he's Indian and his dad opened Eldene Health Centre) but I refer to myself as a 'Swindoo' (not to be confused with Swindu, which of course would make me a Hindu from Swindon.

Of course there are others but my favourite is 'Cunt' and reserved for anyone born and raised in Swindon who goes on to support any other football team

The Preemark/Prymark thing is interesting.  Back in the 1990s there was a tendency for Swindonian Michelles to call themselves 'Mee-chelle' with all the emphasis on the first syllable.  Maybe they still do?  (I no longer know any Michelles from Swindon, so can't say for sure.)  Swindon was definitely the only place where people did this.

My sister, whose name is Michelle, was often called Mee-shell and was up until I left the country. Whether or not she still gets called that I don't know.

Another one I noticed is Nye-oh-me (Naomi). Whether or not that's just a Swindon thing or not I don't know.

My missus is Meesh. Not being from round these parts I find it utterly bizarre that I'm the only one who calls her Mish. Which, when I'm trying to attract her attention, becomes "Hey Mish" (Hamish) like I've confused her with a Scotty dog. That always goes down well.

Just for avoidance of doubt, I wasn't implying for a second that Mee-chelle is a chavvy/common pronunciation.  Simply a quirk that makes the world a slightly more interesting place...that I only ever noticed in Swindon.

And I've always said Pree-mark.  But that comes from living in Swindon a kid in the 1980s.  Some things never leave you.

Not being a Swindonian/Swindoner/Swindu/Swindoo/Swindowner I have nothing to add here other than the fact I love the Moonraker nickname in all of its self-deprecating glory.

I get the piss taken out of me at work for sounding like a country bumpkin because I have a strong tendency to say 'foive' instead of 'five'.

I find it irritating how other regions neglect the letter 'R'. They write 'erm' when they mean 'uhm'. Erm should be pronounced eRRRRm.

I do as well.  I also say Adeedas rather than Adidas and garidge instead of garage.  I must be even more common :D
