A big gripe is why did the bbc try to excite us all with the women's "Ashes" cricket? The Ashes is a specific tradition having nothing to do with Eng v Aus women's tests played in front of a few hundred. The footballers on the other hand played at a genuine world level in front of huge-ish crowds and tv audiences and overachieved against top competition Title: Re: Women and Sport Research Post by: Ells on Monday, September 28, 2015, 23:11:46 Done. Minor issue - the word "of" is missing in the answer to question 3 - I watched one or two the England matches. (I completed it on my mobile if that's relevant) A big gripe is why did the bbc try to excite us all with the women's "Ashes" cricket? The footballers on the other hand played at a genuine world level in front of huge-ish crowds and tv audiences and overachieved against top competition I think you're missing the point, how are crowds and enthusiasm supposed to increase if the press don't report on them and try to drum up some excitement?
