Title: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Combe Down on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 06:23:42 Massive game tonight as Forest Green Rovers host Bristol Rovers in a play-off semi-final first leg. The FGR website reports problems with restricting tickets to getting the correct supporters in the right end of the ground. Online sales were suspended & fans were required to go to the ground in person with their passport or driving licence AND a utility bill (e.g. a gas bill???!!!)! Park & ride systems in place to prevent traffic chaos on THAT hill!
Come on FGR. Love to see you in the League. Always overachievers but great to watch their exploits. Any town with a smaller population than Nailsworth been in the League before? Would be even sweeter as Chel-ten-ham have dropped out. Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 06:36:05 I went to FGR vs. Bristol Rovers at the start of the season and the home end was full of Gasheads. I understand why they'd want to try and prevent this in such a big game.
Personally, I think Rovers will go up but league games versus Bromley and, maybe, Chorley await them if either FGR/Grimsby/Eastleigh go up... and that would be amusing. Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 06:42:19 I should also add that although I find it funny what happened to Oxford and Rovers, the notion that it could one day happen to Swindon scares the hell out of me (in football terms).
Watching Tranmere drop down only adds to that. Decent one season, back-to-back relegations the next. Strewth. Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: JoeMezz on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 06:45:22 Think Rovers will go up, too strong for rest of the sides.
Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Combe Down on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 07:13:42 Which 'Rovers' are you talking about? Are you closet gasheads?
Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: @mwooly63 on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 07:21:17 Have a gashead Parcelforce driver that comes in work daily, he is predicting an Eastleigh promotion.

Thats defelcting tactics then, I know a few Irene fuckers and they are all very arrogant about easily returning to the FL, and I unfortunately feel they are right.Thinks they are the stronger of the 4 Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Combe Down on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 07:44:34 Surely the easiest way to achieve that was by finishing top of the Conference. Barnet are back up then. Did they move grounds from Underhill in the end?
Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Batch on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 07:52:43 Good luck FGR. I feel the gas will be too strong, but its the playoffs. anything can happen.
Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: DarloSTFC84 on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 08:10:49 I'm rooting for Eastleigh.
Regardless of the Ex-Oxford platers in their ranks. Portsmouth v Eastleigh would be the most unexpected local rivalry... if you go back a few years. Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Ardiles on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 08:24:10 Selfishly, I'd prefer FGR to stay in the Non-League. We have had significant support from the Stroud Valleys over many years, and still do today. If FGR were to make it in to the League and stay there, that could be eroded over time.
I think Rovers (Bristol) will do it. Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Arriba on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 08:57:37 Really hope rovers blow it.

Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Costanza on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 12:18:13 Which 'Rovers' are you talking about? Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Abrahammer on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 18:33:18 Are FGR still owned by that tree hugger?
They only served veggie food in the ground at one stage, I don't want that behaviour anywhere near the football league Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: kerry red on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 18:35:40 Yep

Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: horlock07 on Thursday, April 30, 2015, 07:03:28 Looking at FGR on Wiki I note that Charlie Griffin was their highest goal scorer in 2004/05 and Jonathan Smith (Also formerly of this parish) 09/10!
Charlie Griffin is now 35 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charlie_Griffin I remember when he was our great young striking hope - Christ that makes me feel old! Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Costanza on Thursday, April 30, 2015, 16:47:33 Griffin was at Town during a dire period in our history, he didn't stand a chance.
That said, he didn't make the most of any of his FL chances over his career. A goal scoring machine in Non-League though. I've seen him play this season and he's terrible... yet still scores. Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Peter Venkman on Sunday, May 17, 2015, 13:17:38 That challenge on the Grimsby keeper from some bristol bastard nearly took his head off, missed him by inches.
Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Costanza on Sunday, May 17, 2015, 13:20:19 I've watched quite a bit of Bristol Rovers this season and the fact they finished second is a testament to how mediocre that level is.
The notion of Bristol Rovers vs. Bromley/Boreham Wood/Guiseley next season makes me appreciate how good we've got it (in comparison) at this moment in time. Title: Re: Promotion to the Football League Post by: Peter Venkman on Sunday, May 17, 2015, 13:23:51 The Grims are the better footballing side so far, Rovers like to hoof it a bit.
