*Please no one say "Ooooh, only our results matter to me, I don't care how other teams are doing", as that is clearly crap in this instance as these games are every bit as important to the outcome of our season.

Although I'm relaxed about most things at the moment, I think we're at a stage where all results matter.

What a turn around they've had since Danny Wilson got sacked.

I have to admit, I am pinning my hopes on PNE dropping points in that one. I can't really see MK slipping up vs Notts County but stranger things have happened.

The MK/Notts game isn't really that important, the game at Oakwell is far more relevant to us.

PNE will drop points but so will Town.

That MKD/City/Peterborough triple is one hell of a test.

Pretty much. If we need to be concerned about what MK are doing, then we'd might as well say goodbye to 2nd spot anyway.  It's all about Preston.

Barnsley 3/1 to win, at home. That's not a bad bet on their current form.

So we could be 4th and 8 points behind when we play again.  Bit of a gamble.

It would be more of a gamble to play without 6 first team regulars.

We are getting towards the period where draws are no use to us any more...as evidenced by Cooper's tactics vs Doncaster where we went all out for the win - and, magically, did.

PNE will be doing the same now.  Both of us will be vulnerable to upsets in the latter stages of games where we are drawing (or even losing) and chasing a win.  Just one reason why the proverbial 'form book' is discarded around this time of the season.

So are you saying its a mini league, with 6-pointers to come against Franchise, 82ers and Preston then Ardiles. I certainly think every game from hereon in is a cup final.

In think every game is important now.  No such thing as a game we should be happy for a point with.  Bristol have that luxury; Preston, Franchise and we do not.

I have a sneaking suspicion that the promotion race still has a few chapters to go, and that Preston's supposed march towards 2nd place will not be as inevitable as the last 6 weeks or so have suggested it might be.

Reckon it will go the wire personally.

We are taking this mid season break thing a bit far.  Still, we'll be well versed for the Qatar shenanigans, especially if we populate most of the 3rd and 4th tier world cup teams.

Yep. The mid season break is supposed to benefit you towards the end of the season, roughly about now.... ;)  A second "final 5th" break is into unknown territory.

The England team in Qatar, should we make it.....will prob include, Wes, Turnbull, Stephens, Gruffallo, Swift, Mason, Pritchard and 4 who we'll get over the next couple of seasons.  Think Charlie Austin may be just too old.

Nothing we can do about it. Just try and get in the best form in preparation for the playoffs and hope they slip. Still don't think they will slip, think they could be crowned champions.

Something else that I did notice listening to that game today......

There were plenty of mentions about time-wasting, diving and what not from both teams, no more or less than when I listen to our games. The only difference was that it wasn't made out to be that much of a big deal.

Thing is mate so much still to play for as 2 play off places are still up for grabs and relegation is no way decided. Teams are going to be up for it at least until mid to late April.
As for Agent Appleton he is doing a magnificent job. They are simply on fire at present.

As for the Poolies they are a wonderful club. One of my favourite places to visit.

Going to Hartlepool is like going to a non-league Club. And believe me, as some one who has seen a LOT of non league football over the years and genuinely loves it, that comment is meant 100% as a compliment. It has a great feel to it. What's their Club bar called? The Corner Flag? As you say, great people. Truly 'the salt of the earth'.

I used to love the pub on the quayside. Changed hands now but before was run by a Hartlepool fan and lots of their fans used to get in it before the game.
Remember leaving the pub and walking to the ground with a few of them.

Just got in after spending the day in Cheltenham with family and meeting my gorgeous new nephew (and future Swindon fan).  So haven't read through the thread.  But that Barnsley goal was massive!

As one of my brothers wisely pointed out today, all it needs is for Preston to draw a few games...and we're back in the driving seat (so long as we win ours, obviously).  They don't even need a catastrophic loss of form - just some poor luck or some feisty opposition.

I'm not that worried about MK. We're fighting for second. They're fighting for finishing 3rd. For MK to finish second they'd need Preston to lose almost every game left.

We're 100% focussed on Preston, or at least I am.
