hmmm. Well we didn't know about Stephens before he signed so will reserve judgement.

But Stephens had played well for Plymouth and well enough to warrant £175,000 transfer fee.

This drive for youth is all well and good - I have no real problems with it - but there are certain positions where some experience is essential.

And CB is one of them.

I presume as the season is 2 weeks away and he is only a 4 week loan it will enable Coops to cast an eye over him first

I would have thought that Derby would have let him come training for 2 weeks then let us sign him for a month from the start of the season, that would be better for us & Derby

A months loan now gives a couple of weeks of pre-season to look at him and the first few games in the league to see if he's worth keeping, with plenty of time before the window closes to bring in a season long to replace him if he turns out not to be up to it.
