i think this is Asher who has a BMW 355??

Title: Ralphy
Post by: Ralphy on Monday, August 22, 2005, 10:32:48
You mean a 325 !

BMW numbering goes on engine size (sort of!)

BMW 316 is a 1.8 litre
        318 is a 2.0 litre
        320 is a 2.2 litre
        325 is a 2.5 litre
        330 is a 3.0 litre

The biggest engine in the E46 3 series is the 3.2 litre lump in the M3.

pass mate.
not a big BMW fan so numbers etc mean nothing to me.

would have thought it would have given a Type R a decent race though.

more coffee needed Monkey Nuts, to wake yourself up

330 is the only match for a Type R in a straight line drag race.

325 has 192 bhp but weighes over 1500 kg.

Honda haven't released final spec or design of next generation Type R.

Likely to have between 210 and 220 bhp with a much lighter body than the Ashtray VXR or VW Golf.

All the other manufacturers have gone down the turbo route (Vauxhall, VW, Seat, Renault etc) but with Honda's Normally Asspirated is best philosphy, the new Type R engine is likely to be a high reving screamer again with i-VTEC to give a broad spread of torque even at low revs.

I have my test drive pre-booked already at my local Honda dealer

turbos = damn good fun

Post by: Ralphy on Monday, August 22, 2005, 15:10:19
True, but expensive if they go POP  :D

I like hearing an engine scream, turbo cars have massive torque but never rev very high.

Maybe because i'm used to a 8500 rpm red line

Not possible mate.

Mini Cooper S has a supercharger not a turbocharger.

To achieve 0-60 in 3 secs you would have to spend about £15 k on it !!

Cooper S's whine and pop in standard form due to the supercharger and exhaust.

Nice cars though.

well he's spent serious money on it, possibly £15k, they're minted.

its not a standard cooper s, i've been in one of those and it was alright.

i'll take some videos of it when i go back down on thursday.

when i say it pops, i mean that if he's rolling along without any throttle, the car is going rabrabrabrabPOPrabrabPOPOPrabrab etc
