This must be the only reason, I would suggest that the reserve keeper could well be experienced and come in as goalkeeping coach too possibly as I have heard that Digby is not employed by Swindon but is pretty much voluntary.

I hope not though as I think Digby could well be a good coach as Wes seems to have improved a fair bit since Diggers has been coaching him, commanding his area a lot better and claiming crosses which in the past he has punched and his general shot stopping seems better too.

It's interesting how people see things differently.  I think Wes was doing better under the Italian coach's guidance and in the early days under Digby seemed to have gone backwards.  He may have become an even better keeper than he is if the Italian had stayed.  We'll never know, of course.

I think the transition period between coaches showed, but Wes was solid 2nd half of the season, he def improved on crosses and kicking which were his weaker points before.

Regardless of whether or not he improved or went backwards he is still a quality keeper!!

Im with this.  The first few months (pretty much the remainder of that season) after the Italian fella left and Digby came in his decision making was a bit naff but last season he was back to the normal.

What has never changed is his superb shot stopping ability and that why there is no way he should be playing in League 1 still.

If we have got a reserve keeper lined up, then makes sense to get Belford some experience.
As for Digby, believe he is involved in promoting the club and was key figure for getting our sponsor this year.

Really? We put up an 18/19 year old keeper for loan and suddenly we're doomed?!

At 19 he ain't going to get much game time at STFC, which is what he needs at that age.

Seems a very sensible decision to me.

It's not that we are doomed, more that we are loaning out a cheap reserve keeper unexpectedly. And Storey, though not quite as unexpectedly.

Maybe we have another 'strategic partnership' a la Tottenham coming up and are making way.

These reports (Storey/Belford) all seems rather strange due to the ongoing court case as I am wondering who is making this sort of decision? Surely it cannot be carried out without the agreement of the whoever they/it/him/her is in charge and could change in the very near future!

We do still have a manager....Cooper has had to deal with this sort of shit in his previous non league work, so probably thinks just get on with it...

Although taking into account the on going ownership bollocks, it wouldnt entirely surprise me if this was a cost cutting (even if only temporary) exercise.
Of course who is paying what percentage of the wages during these loan (...and potential loan) spells is not information I am privy to...
