Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 16, 2014, 18:52:33 The whole of the Iranian team was born in the USA.
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Stef Troll on Monday, June 16, 2014, 18:53:00 Nigeria number 2. Ughhhhhhhh
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: kerry red on Monday, June 16, 2014, 18:53:52 The whole of the Iranian team was born in the USA. Well, they wouldn't get far in their chosen profession in Tehran Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Jimmy Glass is an Alien on Monday, June 16, 2014, 18:57:25 Even I vote Iran!
God help me in my other group games! Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Monday, June 16, 2014, 18:59:31 The whole of the Iranian team was born in the USA. I'm going to have to change the rules, it could get messy otherwise. I'll have a think. Any suggestions, everybody? Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Dozno9 on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:01:02 One sided game, Nigeria not even close.
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Bewster on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:03:13 I'm going to have to change the rules, it could get messy otherwise. I'll have a think. Any suggestions, everybody? Need to be born in the country of origin but allowed one wild card ?? Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:05:54 Need to be born in the country of origin but allowed one wild card ?? It'll do me a huge favour if you don't contest the Iranian players. Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: kerry red on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:08:55 Problem is, when one rule says a bird with dual nationality the place of birth wins over.
Not sure if the Iran team were even born in Iran. Be a shame if that's the case as they are stunning. Could call the match a draw I suppose and go from there Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Sir Pissalot on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:09:19 It'll do me a huge favour if you don't contest the Iranian players. Why? Do you think they'll put a fatwa on you? :) Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Nemo on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:11:16 Tell you what, my Ivorian team will be significantly better second time around as I'll just play anyone French I fancy...that said, better than the real American team!
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: london_red on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:11:19 I did try and make sure they all had at least one Iranian parent at least, reckon they'd all be eligible for the actual Iranian football team!
Would have made it a thankless task if I'd tried to be too strict and I can humbly say I think the tournament has benefited from their inclusion... Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: brocklesby red on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:13:15 I did try and make sure they all had at least one Iranian parent at least, reckon they'd all be eligible for the actual Iranian football team! that'll do for me 3-0 to IranWould have made it a thankless task if I'd tried to be too strict and I can humbly say I think the tournament has benefited from their inclusion... Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:14:55 hang on a minute.
2 of them don't even hold Iranian Nationality. What a fuck-up. Sorry guys, I should have been more careful in checking. What to do now? Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Samdy Gray on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:15:44 Tell you what, my Ivorian team will be significantly better second time around as I'll just play anyone French I fancy...that said, better than the real American team! I'm thinking I'll do the same for Algeria. Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: kerry red on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:15:51 If you were FIFA you'd just say fuck off and ignore it!
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:18:38 As much as I'm partly at fault for not checking, I think that the Iranian FA has been a tad cheeky here. I'm toying with the idea of Iran forfeiting the match.
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Sir Pissalot on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:19:19 hang on a minute. 2 of them don't even hold Iranian Nationality. What a fuck-up. Sorry guys, I should have been more careful in checking. What to do now? What do the rules say? Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Posh Red on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:20:58 Iran no 2. Wow. Former Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader :D Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: london_red on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:22:07 As much as I'm partly at fault for not checking, I think that the Iranian FA has been a tad cheeky here. I'm toying with the idea of Iran forfeiting the match. Fair enough - if I've misinterpreted the rules I'll accept a forfeit. Thought I could get away with team members with an Iranian parent, obviously not. Can only apologise and I'll make sure to field a more strictly homegrown side for the remaining games. Title: Re: Post by: horlock07 on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:22:15 Cannot we just solve this like FIFA would, london_red just bung Flashheart a tenner deny everything and we will all just look the other way.
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:24:37 Fair enough - if I've misinterpreted the rules I'll accept a forfeit. Thought I could get away with team members with an Iranian parent, obviously not. Can only apologise and I'll make sure to field a more strictly homegrown side for the remaining games. Fair enough. Decision made. Iran forfeit the game and Nigeria win by default. Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Jimmy Glass is an Alien on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:27:36 I'm happy for Iran to win. I'm not going to contest the 'dual natiknality'. The better team won.
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:30:00 I'm happy for Iran to win. I'm not going to contest the 'dual natiknality'. The better team won. It's not so much a matter of dual nationality though. 2 of them are not even Iranian. Title: Re: Post by: horlock07 on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:34:01 Typical FIFA bias against the smaller teams, if Diego Costa is Spanish then these girls are Iranian!
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Abrahammer on Monday, June 16, 2014, 19:45:48 Must admit if they had one Iranian parent I'd have assumed that automatically meant dual nationality.
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Honkytonk on Monday, June 16, 2014, 22:30:33 Down with Iran, up with more pictures of their number 2!
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: kerry red on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 04:38:10 Down with Iran, up with more pictures of their number 2! Scatman, eh! Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 06:40:32 Iran no. 2 wins it on her own.
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Talk Talk on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 07:37:30 Fair enough. Decision made. Iran forfeit the game and Nigeria win by default. Boo. I think you should let him get away with this one but be strict on the following matches. The poor bastard has a hard enough job as it is! Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Gnasher on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 08:39:31 I can't see any harm in using a player if they have a parent or grandparent born in that country, similar to the men's game. If two teams use the same player then it is decided on their place of birth.
The same applies to players with dual nationality. If both countries select the same player then it is decided on their birth country. If the player is selected by one country, then they can't play for another country during the tournament, and the decision cannot be contested. Fair? Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: suttonred on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 09:09:36 Booo. I'd be finding pictures of brickies in burkas for the next round. Show my contempt to the fifa like judgements on here ;)
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 10:45:43 Sorry, I need to be as fair as possible to other managers. Iran's forfeit is maintained.
I will be more vigilant from now on to stop this happening again. Just having a parent from that country is not enough, they have to hold that country's nationality. If you are fielding a player born in another country playing in the tournament, then you must have permission from that country's manager. If you asked for permission but received no reply, that will count as you being granted permission. I accept you've got to be fair Flasheart, I appreciate while it's a bit of fun if the rules are clear then you've got to stick to them.
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Honkytonk on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 11:16:54 USA just picked up 3 new players!

Title: Re: Re: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: horlock07 on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 12:07:13 USA just picked up 3 new players! Are they not cup tied? Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: kerry red on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 12:17:14 Yay !! Am I allowed Mila Kunis ?? No. She is Iranian - oh, wait a mo . . . Title: Re: Re: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Honkytonk on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 12:30:03 Are they not cup tied? Those photos are. But the ladies themselves aren't if they've been considered as 'misused' members of the USA, surely? On the subject of photos, are ones from the same shoot as previous photos used okay? Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 12:36:16 These players can be used by USA, just not the same photo. Players in general can be used from the same shoot, just not the same photo. Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Bewster on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 12:42:21 Can I use Kunis ??
Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: Flashheart on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 12:52:35 You'll need to ask Russia (Sonic)
Scratch that, hold on.... She was born in the Ukraine, not Russia. No need to ask permission, she's yours Title: Re: Iran v Nigeria Post by: DV on Tuesday, June 17, 2014, 13:05:21 Excuse my historical (more likely lack there of) knowledge but wasn't the Ukraine still Russia when she was born there?
