Title: Man City - Wow!
Post by: kerry red on Tuesday, May 6, 2014, 10:38:47
UEFA have fined them £50m and made them reduce their squad to 21 players next season for breaching FPP.

What's the chance that on appeal they actually get fuck all sanctions

£50M over 3 years, so it's not really that bad.

That would keep us funded for about 30 years!

What about Real Madrid & Barcelona, who have historic debts of circa 500m...but UEFA do nothing about them?

The biggest one is PSG, whose Qatari owners were encouraged to 'invest' in PSG by none other than Michel Platini.

Of course, UEFA need the money due to the massive losses they've run up due to the Euro Champs qualifiers TV deals now being centralised, due to the fact TV companies don't want to show a load of 'dead' qualification matches now 24 out of 54 teams qualify.

Fining people with bottomless amounts of money is pointless. It also turns complying with FFP into a fee - it's just the cost of doing business. Unless there are real sanctions (limiting squad sizes, transfer bans, banning from entering the CL) then it will as laughable as the 'fit and proper' test.

Instead of just quoting this, I have highlighted it for emphasis.  Sporting contests become meaningless when the funding of club's like Man City are, to all intents & purposes, limitless.  See earlier rant...
