Title: Last 18 years
Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Wednesday, April 2, 2014, 18:26:24
As my son was 18 this year (and has been a regular at the CG for a lot of that time), I got to thinking just what I had got him into so checked back to see the high & low lights of that time.

In the seasons since he was born we have

3 x Relegations (1999-2000, 2005-06 & 2010-11)
2 x Promotions (2006-07 & 2011-12)
3 x Play-Offs (2003-04, 2009-10 & 2012-13)
1 x Play-Off Final (2009-10)

Average League Position: 10th in League 1   (which is probably the same over most of our lifetimes too)
Best FA Cup: 4th Round (Leicester away 2010-11)
Best League Cup: 4th Round (Aston Villa Home 2012-13)
Best JPT: Final (Chesterfield 2011-12)

So whilst the first few years (where we didn't go that much) were fairly quiet, the last 10 years has seen us promoted, relegated or in the play-offs in most years (7 of 10).

He chose a really rubbish time to be born (STFC-wise), to be fair.

Wouldn't he have been born sometime in the 95/96 season? Doesn't a part of a season count?

He was born in the March of 96, so only made a couple of months of that season so I didn't include it.

However, his first Town shirt was from that season. Not that it fit him for about 4 years :)

I reckon you should count it....my kid likes the story I told him of how I had to restrain his heavily pregnant mother from running on the pitch when we beat Chester in 86...he feels like he was there.

You didn't count the two promotions and one relegation in the one year !

Promoted to Prem, relegated to Div 2 (then 3rd level), then promoted to Div 1 on appeal.

Or was that just before his time ?
