Title: Another Striker Post by: janaage on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 12:31:59 Don't understand that one, at all
So that's Robbo, Cureton, Thorpe, Fallon, Caton, Heath... Title: Another Striker Post by: BrightonRed on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 12:33:57 I guess we should respect the fact that he may be the next Sam Parkin.
Title: Another Striker Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 12:35:10 I believe Heath often starts in central midfield but like Ricky Shakes he is generally listed as a striker. I expect he's been brought in for central midfield.
Title: Another Striker Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 12:40:27 Well done Kingy .. nice to see we have solved that central midfield problem by signing a striker!!! :nono: :surrender: :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:
Title: Another Striker Post by: fatbury on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 12:41:29 What makes it worse is that it got my hopes up for a potential premiership old boy sorting out that central midfield like Lomas .. still on the bright side at least we have a decent backup keeper at last!!
 Title: Another Striker Post by: DV on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 12:45:25 can someone c&p for us...cheers!
Title: Another Striker Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 12:51:20 It was never going to be Lomas - what you have to rememeber is that if we sign these players it will only be because Man United are paying most of their wages, no chance you'll get an experienced midfielder on loan from a premiership club as their wages will be far more and we don't have the money.
Title: Another Striker Post by: red macca on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 12:59:55 sorry to be cheeky but could some put the link story up i cant get into it on work pc....please :D
Title: Another Striker Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:00:30 United Duo Arrive
Swindon Town Manager Andy King has confirmed that he is trying to add Manchester United pair Tom Heaton and Colin Heath to his squad on loan. Both players trained with Town today but any potential deal has been put on hold until Thursday morning, when King speaks to Manchester United Manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Title: Another Striker Post by: Johno on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:05:51 so there not definite yet...good! get rid of Heath, get a central midfielder!!
Title: Another Striker Post by: le god cuervo on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:07:44 its good he's looking at another keeper, i think rhys is gonna need some kind of operation or at least a rest as his injury doesnt look like its going away. bulman is not good enough for the first team, so it makes sense to get someone in on loan for a while.
but another forward! why?! Title: Another Striker Post by: red macca on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:11:26 the player who said no to reserve football might be a striker.also we dont know but this heath could be something special...kingy can make some bad decisions but loan signings are not one of them i trust him on this one
Title: Another Striker Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:14:03 I don't really understand that at all, surely it's a waste of money?
Although looking at the official website, they've got an interview with him which says "Midfielder speaks ahead of a possible move to The County Ground." Title: Another Striker Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:19:00 From the official Man Utd website, their last reserve game lineup:
Heaton (GK); Bardsley, Pique, Brown (J.Evans, 62), Picken; Heath, Smith, R. Jones, Martin (Gibson, 81); Cooper (Campbell, 77), Rossi. According to the report, Smith played in central midfield so that would indicate that Heath played there as well. Title: Another Striker Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:19:23 They are both very highly rated, I think Heaton would really push Evans for a place.
When we signed Lee Holmes many people moaned it wasn't a position we needed, a few games later and they were moaning when he was rested for one game 'cos he had to play for England under 17's. As I said Heath does also play in central midfield. It is not a choice between getting a holding midfielder who would have to be one of our highest paid players and getting a youngster on loan where we only have to play a small fraction of that amount. The wage demands are completely different. Title: Another Striker Post by: Johno on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:20:51 well, i'll give Heath a chance obviously!
Title: Another Striker Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:20:53 7 strikers is a tad ridiculous if you ask me, even if you throw a couple elsewhere like Shakes on the wing.
Is there a Premiership club with the equivalent wealth of experience in forwards fighting for the same spot? Backwards but they both appear to have a lot of potential and sometimes you can't ignore talent like that. Title: Another Striker Post by: red macca on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:22:39 anywhere i can get some info on these players
Title: Another Striker Post by: Spud on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:24:53 Heath can play in midfield.
Title: Another Striker Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:25:03 Heaton
http://www.premierleague.com/fapl.rac?command=forwardOnly&nextPage=enPlayerProfile&playerId=269125 Quote Promising young goalkeeper who impressed in the Barclays Premiership Reserve League North title win in 2004/05, producing a series of eye-catching performances. An agile shot-stopper, Heaton will provide cover for United's more experienced keepers. Title: Another Striker Post by: I 8 Razor on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:30:36 Miglioranzi is back in contention now aswell
will he fit in? Title: Another Striker Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:32:04 He played for Cambridge United on loan last season, was used as a striker except for one game in midfield.
here's what some of their fans have to say about him http://boards.rivals.net/default.asp?sid=924&p=16&style=2&forumId=3235&action=1&replytoid=2125905441 Title: Another Striker Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:38:20 Cut & paste plese SY this company doesn't like that linkage.
Title: Another Striker Post by: McLovin on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:39:53 It's best if he doesn't... sounds dire.
"God-awful striker" and "i tried to wipe him from my memory" were two i can remember off hand... Title: Another Striker Post by: janaage on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:40:09 "He was so bad I've blanked him from my memory." is one quote
Title: Another Striker Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:40:41 aye, that's right Dave. Very reassuring :/
Title: Another Striker Post by: Ben Wah Balls on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 13:56:55 He certainly did alright in man united reserves on monday with two goals from midfield and that's a pretty high standard with Alan Smith playing, they're reserves beat our first team 4-0 not so long ago.
http://www.manutd.com/news/fullstory.sps?iNewsid=222442&itype=466&icategoryid=624 I think we should wait before judging him, not that we've even signed these players yet. Title: Another Striker Post by: Nils on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 14:01:36 I am a bit worried having read that now.
Title: Another Striker Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 14:06:29 Cambridge United as well. :(
That said I'd go with Ben they where appalling overall last season so it's worth having a look before I start casting stones around the place. Remember Mr P hardly a glowing report in a shocking Northampton team either? Wouldn't put to much stock in the Prem reserves either mind remember a certain Mr Slabber of late was regarded as a bit of a hot shot at that level. Title: Another Striker Post by: sonicyouth on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 14:08:27 I wouldn't pay any attention to Premiership reserves personally, although on the basis that Cambridge were terrible last season I'd keep an open(ish) mind with Heath.
Title: Another Striker Post by: I 8 Razor on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 14:09:59 are they going to be season long loans???
Title: Another Striker Post by: spacey on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 14:14:13 Quote from: "Ben Wah Balls" I think we should wait before judging him. I disagree! I think we should all convince ourselves that he's absolute shite, and criticise him at every opportunity. Infact if he ever sets foot in Swindon I'm gonna get me a posse together and run him outta town :x Title: Another Striker Post by: Dazzza on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 14:38:50 Quote from: "sonicyouth" I wouldn't pay any attention to Premiership reserves personally, although on the basis that Cambridge were terrible last season I'd keep an open(ish) mind with Heath. Seen a few of the Everton Vs Liverpool reserve games and they can get rather heated at times. Not sure if they still do now mind but they used to play up at the Deeva Stadium and would draw a few thousand. Strong teams usually from both sides as well so it was quite entertaining usually. That porky kid that plays for United now looked half decent even back then. You never can tell though some clubs pish about and treat as a game in the park about while others take it far more seriously and give it 100%. Lets hope these two dont come in with the billy big boots attitude, we play for man utd were ace....we'll skin everyone at once etc Title: Another Striker Post by: Johno on Wednesday, August 17, 2005, 16:11:31 i thought henderson was going to be crap! so....anything can happen!
