FIFTH place in League One is still within reach, according to Mark Cooper, despite the fact his Swindon Town side are currently nine points off the pace with 15 games of the season remaining.

1. It seems that Mark Cooper can't be attributed to anything without derision at the moment.

2. This is better than saying, 'To be fair, I think we're done for the season now. I wouldn't bother guys, we've done all we we can.'

3. It's more realistic than when Phil Smith said Swindon were in the Play-Off hunt after beating Charlton during the grim 2010/11 season.

Still think playoffs are really up for grabs, we're a better side that P'Boro and could pip Walsall.
Without Ranger, won't be good enough, but might as well go for it, otherwise the rest of the season is pointless for us fans..

Can't disagree with that.

Can you imagine the shit he'd get if he said we're done for the season?

Another example of how the headline warps what Cooper has actually said, which is suitably anodyne....although take each game as it comes, let's get to 52 points and see where we are, it's a marathon not a sprint, could be usefully wheeled out.

He's almost certainly just answering a question as well. When asked by a journo what he thinks of our chances what does anybody expect him to say.

Do you reckon we will have enough to stay up, Reg?

As I said elsewhere, the win in Burslem was massive, the domesday scenario, after the Shrews game, was struggle to win the home games v the likes of Oldham and ColU, then have tough looking fixtures v Wolves, Brentford, Preston and Rotherham...couple this with getting stuffed by all and sundry on the road, and a late season slide like in 96/97, where went from sitting happily on 49 points with 10 games left, to finish just out of the drop zone.

At 2-0 down at half time in the Potteries, it wasn't looking good, but that win suggests we'll have enough about us to pick up the 7 points required...

For one minute I thought we were sat in 8th position, 4 points off 6th with 15 games to play.

I think we will finish somewhere between 65-68 points, how this relates to a league position is anyone's guess.

Nah, I saw him yelling it in the town center yesterday afternoon to anyone who would listen.
