Agree. Troy's streets ahead of anything else we have at centre half.

I assume, as he is a Di Canio signing, that he is earning a truck load of money and that he's only still here because he's been injured. With those things in mind, I also assume he will be gone in the summer.

Correct assumptions would you say?

I think he'll pick up an injury over the course of the next few games and be out for the season or he'll be dropped as soon as Hall returns

Afraid so. I was sceptical about Troy just sitting on his arse taking a large wage each week but he has come back well from some bad injuries and has really impressed me. He is not scared of putting his head in where it hurts and is very good with the ball at feet. He's almost been like a new signing. Sadly I think there is no chance we'll be in a position to keep him and with Ward probably too old after this season, will need 2 or 3 new Centre Backs in the summer.

It would be interesting to see if he could be a 'durable' long term partner for Branco. That would be the only way I could see that the club might be willing to pay a bit of extra cash. But I doubt it.

The next best most likely scenario would be for him to sign a new contract and then move on for big bucks once he has shown he is over his injury nightmare.

Don't forget that we are the poorest club in the country and definitely can't afford to pay Exeter 20K when he hits another 20(?) games anyway.

We are going to need a whole new squad this summer. And I think that's gonna be the case most close seasons, until someone pumps some serious dollar in or by some miracle we manage to find a new form of revenue.

Gonna be even harder if our fans keep throwing their toys out of the pram every time we don't win.

That is possibly why we are insisting that clubs taking our players on loan pay the whole fee upfront rather than at the end of the loan, which is more the norm.

So he's now our next best superstar that we'll be devastated to see leave over the summer, having been a booty-obsessed waster who didn't care about the club and was just sat on his ass picking up a huge wage a few weeks ago. Fickle, much?

He was. But since he has come back he has been better than everyone thought - No ? That's not necessarily fickle is it? If it is then, unless people are totally intransigent then they are all fickle.

I doubt we can ship him out even if we tried tbh. I sure I read before he has similar problems as to Ledley King had and can only train so often.

He did play pretty well in the few games he played, when he first came to us, but was always seem to be remembered for that midfield appearance against Maccessfield.  We do look a lot better at the back, just a shame as the defence now improves, we lose Ranger our best attacker. 

I also think we have decent player in Reis, Which am the moment a lot of people disagree, but just got a feeling he may also be like a new player to us.

The point was more that people were far too quick to rush to judgement on the basis of very little before his return to playing, not that they shouldn't have changed their minds once he did

Playing devil's advocate slightly, I only recall a few people, many from twitter, going repeatedly over-the-top about him. (Although I could be wrong, judging by the huge amount of manpons blocking the TEF toilet of late.) :)

I didn't see anything on Twitter as I deliberately avoid STFC stuff on Twitter for very much this reason. I was talking about the reaction on here, mainly from people claiming to be able to judge his ability/commitment/professionalism from what he'd written on Twitter.

He's going to be a big player for us this season. Nobody can accuse me of being fickle either because I said the same thing long before he returned from injury, bitches.

How many more games has Troy got before we have to stump up £20K to Exeter...presumably the failure in the JPT will make this more unlikely?

Given how many games are left of the season and he will be a free agent in the Summer, is it worth paying £20k for what will probably be meaningless games. If we're in the chase then possibly yes but with Hall to come back in probably not.

This had crossed my mind. Depending on how the table looks at the time and whether or not we intend to keep him on, it might be that a further 20k spent is 20k wasted in which case I'd rather we held onto it.

That scenario, however, would not necessarily mean we can't afford another 20k as some are keen to have us believe.

I don't use twitter at all, apart form occasionally glancing at Spacey's stuff. I meant those of our fan base who were spitting feathers were those who generally spend a large amount of time in the twitterverse (did I really just say that?) and also post here.
