Title: Adver News: Town could appeal McEveley dismissal Post by: News Monkey on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 08:16:50 Town could appeal McEveley dismissal
SWINDON Town are likely to appeal the red card handed to Jay McEveley during their 2-2 draw at Peterborough United in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last night. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/10989838.Town_could_appeal_McEveley_dismissal/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Town could appeal McEveley dismissal Post by: sonicyouth on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 08:59:28 We'll probably get fined for a frivolous appeal and another match ban for McEveley
Title: Re: Adver News: Town could appeal McEveley dismissal Post by: Batch on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 09:07:25 There isn't much scope for appeal is there. Clearly unintentional, but there isn't a yellow card offence that it fits with. You are relying on the referee to understand what happened and apply common sense, which he didn't.
Its not even dangerous play because of the contact Quote Playing in a dangerous manner involves no physical contact between the players. If there is physical contact, the action becomes an offence punishable with a direct free kick or penalty kick. In the case of physical contact, the referee should carefully consider the high probability that misconduct has also been committed Disciplinary sanctions • If a player plays in a dangerous manner in a “normal” challenge, the referee should not take any disciplinary action. If the action is made with obvious risk of injury, the referee should caution the player • If a player denies an obvious goalscoring opportunity by playing in a dangerous manner, the referee should send off the player Title: Re: Adver News: Town could appeal McEveley dismissal Post by: THE FLASH on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 09:34:06 No chance....suck it up...
I thought red both times last night....Louis and JMac... Maybe mistaken but was'nt it Nathan that made that shocker that could have been red? Not much chance of having Jays red rescinded,it was certainly high, probably reckless and with Assombalonga having to go off injured, also dangerousI thought red both times last night....Louis and JMac... Title: Re: Adver News: Town could appeal McEveley dismissal Post by: suttonred on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 10:23:03 No way will that be overturned. And yes it was Nathan that got lucky with just a yellow first half.
Title: Re: Adver News: Town could appeal McEveley dismissal Post by: Honkytonk on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 12:15:25 We're gonna get fined for complaining and then they'll decide it's time Jmac was forcibly retired from the game. Have we ever won an appeal? Against anything?

And yes it was Nathan that got lucky with just a yellow first half. He was also luckier later on as well when he was pushed over and picked the ball up - the ref gave the foul against him (for handball presumably....). he could easily have been given a yellow for deliberate handball. What annoys me in football is when players get sent off for something that was clearly not intentional yet defenders can perform cynical tackles like the one on Luongo when he skipped past one player and was hacked over by the last defender who picked up a yellow. Something I have noticed about Swindon this year is that we have one or two divers in the team - Pritchard has done it on a few occasions and McEverley tried it last night. It's something I'm not used to seeing from Swindon players - aside from Whitey in the Play Off final and Dave Rubber Legs Bamber....... Have we ever won an appeal? Against anything? Yes, we won an appeal to the FA after the FL demoted us 3 divisions, in 1990...the FA reinstated us into Div 2, OK it wasn't Div 1, but better than Div3. The FL were seething about it and have had in in for Town since. The whole high foot thing is a joke anyway. Only a matter of time before overhead licks are outlawed too surely.
Nathan (Sorry Flash!) Thompson - he over ran it and then had a little lung but it was only with one foot although studs were slightly up. Again I've seen them given but would have been harsh IMO. The ref was shit all night epitomised by the example he chose to make of Yasser. Oooops! That's left a sour taste in my mouth now. Cant stand that and that card waving malarkey. Maybe we should also appeal to the court for arbitration for sports. FFS west ham suck it up. Title: Re: Adver News: Town could appeal McEveley dismissal Post by: Flashheart on Thursday, February 6, 2014, 22:18:45 I'm in two minds over Jay's Red.
It is harsh on him as there was no intent, but then rules are rules and the high foot rule is in place because people getting kicked in the head is not good. The rule is there for a reason. Even if it is a red though, I can't agree with a 3 match ban. That is not fair at all. I'm pretty sure they weren't all making sure their team mate was ok. We just don't seem to be able to speak to ref's without getting into trouble, but I suppose that comes with experience too. |
