He is certainly saying all the right things and, to me, in the right way. I'm warming to the guy. Time will tell if its all words and no actions but he's made a good start. Whoever is advising him on his PR is doing a cracking job in my opinion.

Agreed. I'd expect him to know how to say the right things but as you've said before it will be his actions that define him. Still, nice change from the tripe Jed came out with. Concise.

I know that talk is cheap, actions speak louder than words etc etc etc yadda yadda.......

But he is pushing all the right buttons for me so far. I know it could be a guise, but I like his blunt 'honesty'.

Interesting....nothing much to object to there....presumably the aim of needing to be successful to make money relates to things like finder's fees and other various expenses.

True, but I think we can all work out, that we're throwing some decent $ down the drain on the likes of Cox, Benson, Navarro, TAH are there any others, so losing them from the wage bill will help.

Luke Rooney & Andy Williams would be two other permanent members of the squad still being paid by the club (although Yeovil are still responsible for a percentage of Williams' wages until the loan spell was originally due to end). Not sure if the Adam Rooney/Comazzi issues re still hanging over our heads either!! Also does anybody have any idea if Bodin is still taking legal action against the club - haven't heard anything on that front for a while now?!?!

I think PB sorted his issue out. But it is understood there is an ongoing issue in which the club agreed to settle out of court but then went back on the agreement. A Rooney issue is with PFA I believe and it will be determined whether of not the contract was proper or not. Because its worth a fair bit, that's why Jed etc wanted to null it.

I thought L Rooney had been paid up and gone...although I suppose he's getting installments. Forgot about Williams

We could really do with getting beyond Stevenage...as no money coming in from the FA Cup.

The Adver did report that they understand that Rooney's contract will be terminated by mutual consent but I haven't seen any confirmation of this yet.

May be over the hill for another season tho, struggled this season for pace
Esp when a ready made replacement in Barthram already here

Not sure how you have worked that one out, seeing as Barthram is a right sided player.

McEveley is 28 and never really had any real pace. He has had a good season and I am sure he would be fine for another one, although his wage may see us attempt to move him on.

Strange post.

Actually meant Alex Smith  :-[ ( Must not do so many things at once ) and while JM may only be 28 he is slow and getting slower.
I guess it depends on how much he is on and how much Power wants to slash the wages further

Doubt Smith is on anything near what JM is

JMac?

At least he plays...I can't imagine he'll get another contract here, unless prepared to take a pay cut.

I was thinking that JMac was looking fitter and faster (especially going forward). Seems to have put a lot of work in to get over his knee injury and is reaping the rewards.

Started slow, but I cant think of a better left back we've had last 10 years.

I was a bit indifferent towards him at first, but Jay Mac has grown on me a lot, it must be said. He can't put a ball in from open play to save his life (although somehow OK from set pieces), but he's generally solid defensively and has a great attitude.

I know I bang on about him a bit, but he reminds me a lot of Jamie Vincent. Steady if unspectacular with the ball, solid defensively and a good organiser of others.

I only rated Vincent after he left and I realised that we missed him. Solid and unspectacular so very much like McEveley in that regard.

We've had a few real good left backs over time

Bodin, Kerslake, Rod Thomas

My choice of best must go to Bodin. Not many full backs score that many goals

Rambo and Phil King were left backs.

Is this meant to be sarcasm, because our coach by proxy was a right back.  In the classic 85/86 season, we started without a left back...the likes of Leigh Barnard and Charlie Henry filling in, then we got the very decent Nicky Coleman on loan from Millwall.

When he went back, we got Paul Roberts, who had been with Millwall and Brentford, bit limited, but ran around kicking people which was always useful in 80's Div 4.
