SWINDON TOWN: Ajose and El Gabas fighting for their futures

SWINDON Town have yet to decide whether they want to keep forwards Nicky Ajose and Mohammed El Gabas beyond their initial deals which expire in January.

Or, in other words, El Gabas and Ajose are only contracted until January. We'll decide to extend or not then.

Bit of a non story.

I can't see the point in keeping both if Storey is likely to feature. I'd love to keep Ajose but can't imagine us being able to afford him on a permanent deal and we'll have competition to keep him on loan.

Obviously, much of this will heavily depend on the outcome of Ranger's trial - is it likely to be concluded by the end of the transfer window? I don't remember when it starts.

If we can get someone good, I'm happy for El Gabbas to be binned. If not, might as well give him cameos until the summer, just in case he remembers how to coordinate his legs.

Hopefully we can sign Ajose, not seen enough of El Gabbas to decide on him, but first impressions aren't the best.

Agree about El Gabbas, but it's difficult to judge him on these 10-15 minute cameos. Don't think he's even had 90 minutes worth of football in the league this season.

I tend to think players like El G If they are going to succeed, do something out of the ordinary  pretty quickly, even if they only do cameos. If that one that hit the post had gone in, who knows, he might have had 6 or 6 after a run in the team by now. he hasn't though, so I tend to think unless he bangs in a couple against Wycombe he'll be off.

Sorry about the above I was saying that neither player has done enough for a contract , but we do need someone to be 3rd and 4th striker . I also think that ward needs to be replaced , last year his backside was coverd by Flint

:Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

Yeah, alright then

I cant honestly see this happening much even with the policy these days of blooding youngsters, just a gut feeling.

Lets be honest Ajose is twice the player of Storey at the moment, i'd be quite happy to get Ajose for longer even if it meant Miles being a bench warmer at the best

Sort of answers what I posted yesterday on another thread; thought El Gabas was on a 6 month contract, so unless he impresses in the potential limited opportunities he'll have between now and then I think he'll be off.

Would take Ajose over Storey anyday
Not looking long term purely for the now
Storey may well turn into a decent striker but I think Ajose has a lot more to his game
All depends on how much Posh want I suppose.

Am hoping El G gets a long run out at Macclesfield and Wycombe as these short 15 min bursts arent showing us what Cooper obv sees.

Ajose v El Gabas and Storey is of course a no contest.

El Gabas v Storey - from what I have seen are very similar, headless chickens with a poor first touch.

Unless El Gabas does something in matches before January, and I'm sure he'll get a chance - he will be gone. Storey will hopefully either extend his Salisbury loan or ideally get a League 2 club for the remainder of the season.

El-Gabbas has 6 caps for Egypt. There is something there.

Only saw him play at Preston and when he came on he gave us something very different, energetic and showed some nice touches.

Interesting Dany N'G looked like our own version of Heskey in that game, big burly but with limited strength and fell over a lot!

DNG looks a quality signing, and sounded a nice chap in the interview after the game, too.

Danny N'Guessan is built like a victorian body builder. What a chest.

I searched for 'victorian bodybuilder' to get a picture, but now I just have to scrub my browser. Eww.

Was told by a Millwall fan that he was lazy and they were glad to be shot of him - don't think that could be further from the truth from what we've seen of him. He's impressed in nearly every game I've seen him in, seems to combine well with Ranger as well. With a full squad to pick from someone will be unlucky to miss out with the options we have now in the midfield/striking areas.

It helps, in part, to not being abused...racially, or otherwise by his home fans every week!

I can understand why people would look at him and think that he's lazy, same with Ranger. Both are very languid in their demeanor off the ball at times. I've been hugely impressed with both after initial skepticism.

Also, DNG has replaced Ranger a few times as a like for like subsitution...he's come on and scored playing in that position...(I think he did so against Wolves), so IF Ranger isn't with us come the end of January....we seem to have a more than capable replacement.

Keeping them both would be excellent though.

The thing that's impressed me most, or maybe that should be surprised me most, with Ranger, is that he's supposedly got a bad attitude, yet he works hard and I've never once seen him complain about being tackled or being thrown around by a centre half. He comes across as a proper professional and just gets up and carrys on without so much as a peep.

N'Guessan's movement off the ball is often limited, particularly when he was being played wide. Particularly compared to Byrne, he hardly came off the line to make space for his full-back.

I noticed that he doesn't really celebrate his goals either, either he's been told  by the club to keep his head down and maintain a low profile or he's used his head as something other than a tattoo canvas and has taken it upon himself to keep himself out of trouble on and off the pitch.

I'm hoping the latter...he did say in his statement on the O/S when signing that he just wants to get his head down, score goals and get his career back on track.

Now, I'm not so naive that I believe everything a footballer says....but, I would like to think that the board have stated that this WILL be the case or he's out the door...and he's actually stuck to it!

One of the first to applaud the fans nearly every game as well. If you had no knowledge of his previous reputation and just judged him on a Saturday afternoon, you'd think he was a model pro.

Doesn't mean he's not a tool as a person, but certainly doesn't seem to show it on the pitch.

Our Nile is definitely an interesting character. For someone who's appeared to live most of his life so far with very little discipline off the pitch, he's probably been our most disciplined player on it. Not all strikers can play the lone forward role (yes i know he gets plenty of support) especially as well as he does.

As yet another hairy arsed centre half tries to wind him up or wrestles him to the ground I keep waiting for the day he turns round and clocks one of them with a right hook. So far nothing, just gets up and gets on with it. Fair play to the guy!

These stories are always so generic.

They need spicing up a tad. I.E.

Ajose and El Gabas fighting each other for their futures. A good old bare knuckle fight to the death for the a contract, that should improve the adver's circulation a bit.
