Title: Swindon Town v Port Vale Official Matchday Thread
Post by: Shaw Rosso on Saturday, November 2, 2013, 00:00:06
The Opponent:  Port Vale

A miracle happened today. There I was, enjoying my dinner, randomly watching Points West, and they must have had a whole 3-4 minutes of Swindon Town. I have never really known us to get much more than a nod from the Beeb when it comes to STFC coverage on Points West, even when Di Canio was around. But we were treated to a good 30 seconds from Mark Cooper and then a rather chirpy Jed declaring we are going for promotion and going for promotion as a self sustainable model rather than the overspending monster we had became.  They pointed out that our average starting age against Oldham was a little over 22 and the powers that be also confirmed that our current league position of 8th was a fair bit better than what they were expecting, which was probably the thoughts of most of us a few months back, so credit where credit is due to Cooper and the team and  McRory and his partners. And Sangita Shah?  I bet she makes a blinding cuppa.

Port Vale visit the County Ground for what is forecast to be a rather windy affair today, with gusts of up to 50mph possible predicted by The Met Office, although if last week’s ‘Hurricane’ is anything to go by the wind will probably go unnoticed. Perhaps its just me but Port Vale seem to have hung around the lower leagues for as long as I can remember. I remember visiting The Potteries a couple of years back (Lukas Magera anyone?) and I have to say the surrounding area was amongst some of the most ghastly  and deprived I had seem on my travels for quite a few years. The only businesses that seemed to prosper in the area were the ones that supplied board for covering up broken windows, although I don’t seem to remember feeling this way when we visited their considerably larger and more illustrious neighbour, Stoke City, perhaps that was down to it being a dark Tuesday evening, after all, even Margate looks nice when its dark. The area of Burslem is one of the towns that form  the city of Stoke on Trent, its main contribution to the world being pottery making giants, Wade and Moorcroft, which sound more like a dodgy northern law firm to me. Burslem’s most notable folk include Port Vale shareholder, Robbie Williams, arrow throwing legend Phil ‘The Power’ Taylor, Motorhead’s Lemmy, and the forefather of many a Princess Di tribute plate, Josiah Wedgewood.

The Last Time We Met – It doesn’t seem that long ago, I have the DVD somewhere. We trounced Port Vale 5-0 on the final day of a manic 2011/12 season in front of a packed County Ground to lift the League 2 championship. Happy Days.

They have served us both – Morris Jones, Ralph Hunt, Calvin Andrew, Tim Parkin, Billy Paynter, Ashley Westwood, Jimmy Kelso, Ken Beamish, Paul Edwards and apologies to Reg for the forgotten many.

Where the opposition gather –

http://www.onevalefan.co.uk/forum/forumdisplay.php?7-Port-Vale-present

Port Vale Last 6 – WDLLWW (Currently 9th in League 1 level pegging with us)

The Odds – Swindon 8/11  Draw 5/2  Port Vale 4/1 I’m not sure the bookies are giving Vale much credit for what they have achieved in the last couple of seasons. Administration in 2012, promotion follows to league 1 through Mickey Adams and they find themselves just a couple of points outside the play off positions on League 1. Longshot of the day has to be the 50/1 that BetFred are offering for Nathan Thompson to score the 1st goal, which is 20’s pretty much everywhere else!

The Son Says –  “Do you remember when we beat them 5-0 and Caddis lifted the trophy”, as if it was 10 years ago. After little deliberation he has opted for a 3-0 home win.

The Prediction – After ending our fantastic home record a couple of weeks back now is the time to put an end to the back to back defeats, and we shall, with a 3-0 victory, goals from Ajose (2) and Ranger. 8088 in attendance with 444 from The Potteries.

And Finally – Port Vale enjoyed the best away support in proportion to home support in the Football League in the 2012–13 season.

Great start, as ever, SR.  Hopefully back on track today.  My worry is that we start slowly and the crowd get impatient.  Hopefully a few lessons learned from the last few weeks.

I was hoping you might have mentioned the Valiants chairman....Norman Smurthwaite....proper norvern name there.

Norm I believe has recently banned The Sentinel from covering PV matches....the equivaliant (I miss Nev) of Jed banning the Adver.  OK some might argue not a bad thing...

Think Norm has suggested that the Sentinel should give him PV, 10K for the privelege

Normally we steamroller Vale, but I'm not as confident today, I think our chances come down to whether a Pope shits in the CG.

Going for 1-1, attn 7921.
-----

The chairman is quite wrong to ban the local paper, and insanely stupid in its reasons for doing so.

Newcastle have just done the same , though this was over covering anti Mike Ashley demonstrations. Again stupid. newspapers aren't football club bitches there for club propaganda purposes. They report the news. Think the Ashley protests were themself stupid mind.

Going one stage further with 1-2
Dont have a good feeling today, sooner or later their luck v us will turn and they are not one place behind us in the league for nothing.
Happy to be proved very wrong tho.
Up until Warsaw ( and we know how that went ) all our home games had been v lower table teams so a few tough home ones to come with Vale then Lorient.

Whatever the result a bit more application than was shown last time out would be welcome

8250 overall with 498 of them ( despite them moaning how we think we are still in the championship at £25 a ticket  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: )

However I think we'll draw 1-1 today.

Missed the Walsall disaster due to my bad back.....still not right and thanks for the flowers and grapes..

I therefore feel I am a Talisman having not seen us lose a home league tie....2:1 win with PV pissing all over us and we get two lucky goals.

Only downside adding to card is remembering where you seat is

 :)

BBJL....interesting article. In this day and age, does the FC need the Adver, or does the Adver need STFC?

If the Adver was frozen out of SN1 (sic), think of the benefits, no more thisis mongs, no more column filling interviews about how the boys are tired and no more "news" which the TEF has been debating for the previous 48 hours.

Possibly bounce back after the last to games and win 3-1.

Just back

What an odd game. Everything was distinctly average and although we were the better team it was all a bit subdued. Then somehow we found ourselves 3-0 up.

Then Vale made 3 subs, Cunty Hughes came on, had a fight with the bench and then Vale somehow were back in the game.

Superb goal from Byrne and another brilliant individual goal from Mass and it was happy days again.

MOM was NGuessan - brilliant running and tiresome effort - fantastic, everyone else was above average

Title: Re: Swindon Town v Port Vale Official Matchday Thread
Post by: Batch on Saturday, November 2, 2013, 17:45:23
Really enjoyed that.

Fairly even opening spell and maybe we hadn't done enough to go in 1-0 up but I wasn't complaining. We really upped it after the break, passes were not passes for passings sake but had purpose. The midfield started to win the battle and we scored two and were coasting.

Then Vale made some changes, and the game kind of got a bit scrappy and with it our shape and discipline at the back went. And Vale somehow scored two, and it was going to be a tight last 10. Except it wasn't, we regrouped, Byrne scored a great goal and it was easy again. Luongo put the icing on the cake with a well taken fifth.

I liked the battling, especially after that bald prick Hughes went all stampey into the bench to get the ball back. If he does that on the pitch its a straight red. And so it should have been here. The ref was a bottling wet lettuce mind.

Thought Luongo looked better today after a couple of disappointing performances, Mason grew into it and these two were instrumental in winning the midfield. However N'Guessen was definitely man of the match for me.

What an odd game
Dull first half but we fully deserved the lead from N'Guessen,
Not sure what Coops said HT but we came out with more purpose and were quickly 3 nil up.
Great cross from N'Guessen and Ranger heads home back post then a shot from Luongo, keeper gets a hand to it and it took an age to float over the line.
So 3 up and coasting

Vale made a triple change with the pantomime villain Lee ( insert comment here ) Hughes one of them
Within 5 minutes he was involved in a scuffle for the ball in the town dugout and really should have walked for that but only picked up a yellow.
At least it woke the crowd up who I thought were going for the full 91 minutes silence until some fucknugget starts signing about turning the Manor ground into a public lav
MANOR GROUND FFS  :badmood:
Pope scores to make it 3-1 and Thompson is stretchered off in the aftermath. No idea what happened there
Then Hughes of all ppl makes it 3-2 to a chorus of " murderer "

Quick break from town with Byrne who checks back near the touchline and curls in a beauty for 4.2
Still time ( 6 minutes added ) for Luongo to strike home the 5th.
Town missed more chances to put the ball in the net during the half but seemed shot shy or the final ball went astray.
Jury still out for me on Gabbas but not sure he knew what a football was till signed for us - was tee'd up with a glorious chance to break his duck but took too long.
N'Guessen was MoM and probably a fair shout. He and Ranger ran tirelessly up front and on another day both could have easily had a couple more goals.
Mason was decent as was Luongo with the rest just above average.

Still is 3 points and return to winning ways
Officials were wank today - lino and ref missed many pushes/pulls on town players

Well that was interesting. The conditions made it a bit of a lottery and the referee made it even more so. We've had some useless fuckers down here this season but this bloke has to be right at the top. Vale players decided to play rugby on occasions and the ref used rugby or football rules interchangeably. The one decision he did get right was booking Pritchard for a dive that would embarrass Suarez. Pritchard has got to be the biggest cheat we've had for diving since Kerrouche.
Nguessan had a really good game and when he gets in his stride is an absolute beast. In the first half Mason was my MOM but Luongo was in the second.
Not sure if the ball hit Ranger for the 2nd but if it didn't it was one hell of a header. Byrnes goal was quality but I didn't think he had a great game.
Overall though in difficult conditions, rugby challenges and a fucking awful ref, we got 3 points and deservedly so. There was a wobble but we got it back.
On a separate note have the Scummers been promoted yet or do they have to wait until X Mas.

Port Vale fans booed and jeered Thompson as he was stretchered off. Classless tosspots.

I think we shaded the 1st half, but Vale always kept us honest. Started the 2nd well, then almost threw it away. Not convinced by the defensive shape of the back three, they seem to get dragged about far too much. Mcevelly plays pretty much as a left back, and we always look susceptible on the break.

Byrnes goal was top class. Luongo was decent, my MOTM.

Digby was having a nice chuckle to himself after he got sent off, nice to see. Hughes really should have gone too, but the ref was shite all game so no real surprise.

Bit annoyed by Pritchards diving. Hopefully his yellow will sort him out.

Not got anything to add to that, Ranger was my mom - very closely followed by N'guessan!  Thought Byrne was poor first half, absolutely on fire in the second period!!  Reserve most of my commenting for the ref, what a total and utter prick, how Hughes didn't get a red I will never know, he threw a couple of punches.  Having booked their 7 he should have then walked for a poor challenge, gutless cunt just gave him a warning, all the way through they were pushing, shirt pulling and generally fouling our players - yes, eh booked a few of them but he should have stamped down on it from the start.  Oh, and Pritchard you are a bit of a twat too for getting yet another booking, this time for a dive so obvious it was untrue!  Two more bookings and he will be out for three games!!

Gabbas to me looks like another Dossevi. Sorry but that's all I've seen out of him. Was surprised Ajose was not involved. Was he on the bench?

Oh yeah, just to be argumentative I thought Ranger was pretty anonymous until the last 15 minutes! And Pritchard had another style over substance display. Lively yet somehow didn't deliver.

Someone be it Cooper or Ferdinand or Sherwood need to take Pritchard to one side and slap him around a bit. The diving really isn't on. I don't appreciate it when other teams do it and am not so one eyed that when our players do it, it evades me.  Think hes onto 7 bookings now which for a player who has barely put a tackle in all season is unreal!

That apart all ok, made a bit of heavy weather of it but good in the end.

A boring first half but much more entertaining in the second half and a good home win. Vale looked relegation fodder with some awful players especially the backline.

N'Guessan and Ranger should start every match and credit to Byrne for a great finish. Luongo superb, hopefully he can find some consistency. Will be interesting to see who makes way for Kasim, Byrne surely? But then we wouldn't be able to play 3-5-2 so probably N'Guessan to make way.  :hmmm:

El Gabbas seems to be a football fake - reminds me of Miles Storey which is not a good thing.

The MyWorld card is a useless piece of plastic crap. Went to the ticket office who told me that most of the cards don't work...what?

I thought we played well today against a team more determined to kick us than the ball. Not convinced about 3 at the back as they all look a little lost at times and opposition forwards walk through the middle of the massive gaps it creates. It doesn't help that Byrne generally ignores his defensive duties whereas Thompson is such a good player and one I hope keeps his place with us for a long time. McEveley is playing out of his skin lately.

The lack of Kasim and Luongo playing that holding role concerned me prior to kick-off but I'm not sure we missed Kasim at all today; in fact, we seemed to play it forward quicker and were more penetrative than in recent games. Luongo had an excellent game, as did Mason but special mention to Pritchard for his work rate - the lad never stops running and chasing players down.

Ranger and N'Guessan looked good together but need more game time to really form a partnership, I hope this marks the end of the chopping and changing between Dany and Ajose but time will tell.

El Gabbas way out of his depth but has looked decent in other sub appearances - is his contract up at the end of the year?

The referee was one of the worst I've seen for a while due to his inconsistency today. Vale's number 7 got away with countless fouls yet Pritchard is harshly booked for diving. Worst of all was his failure in sending off Lee Hughes for being Lee Hughes and then running half the length of the pitch to shake hands with Hughes at full-time. What the fuck was that all about?

Behave, Pritchard was not harshly booked. He could have gone in the book a few minutes earlier for throwing himself to the floor in front of the Arkells. He is a great player but a gobby cheat who is no fucking good to us if he's constantly getting yellows for lets call it simulation and gobbing off to the ref about how hard done by he is.

I agree that he goes down easily at times but that specific incident was harsh considering that the ref was allowing completely over the top challenges go unpunished all game. I think 'gobby cheat' is a bit unfair as well but needs to sort out his disciplinary record.

He looks for the odd free kick admittedly but gets fouled far more often than he cheats that's for sure. Many of these fouls go unpunished so he has a moan and tried to get back at the opposition in other ways. It's not right but he's young and will learn I hope.

We're a better team with Pritch in the side than without him in it, that I do know!

Ref was a gutless cunt. Hughes is just a nasty, horrible human being and Port Vale were a team with some skill, tempered with a hell of a lot of spoiling tactics. We deserved the win, they deserved a couple of reds and fuck all else. As for booing when a player is stretchered off, no class.

First half was ok, second half thoroughly enjoyable.

We could have been 5-0 up and suddenly Port Vale were back in the game.  It could have been an extremely nervous 15 minutes, but all credit we calmed it down and scored another 2 goals.

Another inconsistently useless referee.  How the vile creature that is Lee Hughes remained on the pitch is beyond me, he threw a couple of punches.  One positive from his involvement was the waking up of the crowd.

Agree with Batch that Ranger didn't have one of his best games, but him and N'guessan work well together.  Also agree with the comments about El Gabbas and I'd also likened him to Dossevi.  Saying that he was heavily involved in the build up to the fifth goal.

McEveley was also a good shout for mom imo.  I'm pleased that he seems to have stepped up recently.

All in all, today could have been tricky.  Happy with the overall performance and 3 points.

Thought we were good value for the win today and good to bounce back after 2 losses! Thought Dany N'Guessen was class today, and deserved his MoM, JayMac was very good today, along with Mass...but a good team performance all round. 1st half wasn't the best but 1-0 was about right, then 2nd half we stepped it up and were 3-0 up. Suddenly it's 3-2, Digby sent off and Hughes is a cunt (end of)...then Byrne runs through, shoots, I say 'wasted' but then I'm eating my words and we're 4-2 up...Mass puts icing on the cake and we win 5-2, up to 7th and looking good heading into the *cup* break. Hope we beat Macc and Wycombe in next 2 games, then back to business at Colchester in a couple of weeks...C.O.Y.R!!!

Second game I've seen this season (the other being Tranmere at home, the antithesis of todays game!) and first time I've seen Mason play live. Very impressive, think he has terrific vision and moves so well on the ball. Reminds me a bit of Paul Scholes.

Others have mentioned it was an odd game. Fair play to Mickey Adams, took a gamble at 3-0 down and it nearly paid off. Certainly thought 3-3 was more likely than us scoring again! Luongo's second was class, tied their fullback in knots. Ref maddeningly inconsistent. Overall, very good entertainment. Shame about the lack of atmosphere though. The few chants that were started tend to just fizzle out :/

I think some of the criticism of El Gabbas is a bit harsh. He looked lively, had plenty of energy, worked hard to close opposition players down and he set up the fifth. He does, however, need to think quicker when he has a chance to shoot. Hopefully he'll get more of a chance in the paint pot.

He looked lively alright and had energy but also looked like a headless chicken at times.
Maybe he will take some time adjusting to the English game/league 1.
I have no doubt he will feature at some point in both the FA and JPT
Cooper obv sees something in him as he has had a a few sub appearances

Shame about the lack of atmosphere though. The few chants that were started tend to just fizzle out :/

Bugbear of mine but after each goal we scored a chant started only to be drowned out by that awful glad all over. Other than that was a flat atmosphere from the off

Worst of all was his failure in sending off Lee Hughes for being Lee Hughes and then running half the length of the pitch to shake hands with Hughes at full-time. What the fuck was that all about?
[/quote] I noticed that, thought the ref had seen Hughes do something at the final whistle the way he sprinted up to him, only to then shake his hand. The ref shit out on a few big decisions today and hopefully he won't be back for a long time. Agree with Danny getting the mom, his work rate today impressive for a big bloke. Now just need to find a formation/system to start picking up more away points.

Agree completely on both points. Think its harsh to judge El Gabas so far as he's only had a handful of sub appearances, I think. Judge him when/if he gets a run of starts.

Unreal

El Gabbas didnt come on until after the 4th goal  :hmmm:

I meant fifth goal.  Confusing with so many goals being scored. :)

Others have mentioned it was an odd game. Fair play to Mickey Adams, took a gamble at 3-0 down and it nearly paid off. Certainly thought 3-3 was more likely than us scoring again!

When he made the subs, I commented he'd made them a goal too late.  I nearly ate my words and wonder how it would have panned out if he'd made the subs when they were 2-0 down.

A reasonable writeup from an Oxford disliking Vale fan:

http://www.onevalefan.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?72644-Football-Swindon-5-Port-Vale2-Post-Match-Discussion/page11

Quote from: fredflinstone
First of all, let's get a few things straight, shall we? Vale, for 85% of yesterday's match were appalling. Swindon were better in every aspect. Their passing was, on the whole, accurate, precise and unlike us, they didn't lump the ball 40 yards up the field hoping for Pope to feed off the scraps. It was one of the worst first halves of football that I've ever had the misfortune of witnessing. There were zero positives to take. I don't think we deserved to be losing at the break as it was such a drab and uninspiring 45 minutes where it seemed like two poor sides didn't have any sort of gameplan and neither looked good.

However, once the second half began, Swindon took the **** out of us - literally. They won every tackle, they won every second ball, their players' movement was head and shoulders above ours - we simply couldn't cope. N'Guessan and Ranger - credit where credit is due. They were a real handful, and none of our defenders could cope with them at all. The first two goals were comical to concede, in my eyes. Poor marking, poor organisation. The third goal was quite difficult to explain. A poor goal to concede, but a wicked deflection which took Neal by complete surprise. The fourth was absolutely wonderful, and I knew as soon as it left his foot that it was heading for the top corner - a brilliant goal by my Man of the Match. The fifth was again, poor, and should've been dealt with, but the game was dead and buried after the fourth, so the fifth just added the gloss to a completely deserved win for Swindon.

Am I surprised we conceded 5 again at The County Ground? Not at all. We are dreadful down there, and have been for as long as I can remember. However, some of the comments I've read on this thread this morning have shown a select few Vale fans to be very bitter and full of excuses. Yes, we were dreadful. Yes, Swindon's 'antics' were indeed disgraceful at times. I have to admit, they did play the referee very, very well for the duration of the game, but you can't take away the fact that their passing football was some of the best I've seen this season. Byrne, N'Guessan, Ranger and Luongo were just a class above our 11, and we couldn't deal with them. The better team by a country mile won - they weren't the best, but they were clinical, composed and assured. Something I think we should try to adopt, because what I saw yesterday was a complete laughing stock. No desire until we were 3-0 down and Adams introduced three substitutions. No passion from at least 6-7 of the players. No composure on the ball. No shape. No cohesion. It was embarassing at times how much space Swindon had to operate in, and with consumate ease they threw bodies forward and made it look so easy.

I don't like to criticise the referee or the opposition for their style of play, but I had to on this occasion. Swindon, although they played well, have great passing and organisation, as I alluded to above, did play the referee and it was incredibly frustrating to watch. Some of the decisions he gave were extraordinary! I was infuriated on occasions as he completely killed the flow to the game with some strange decisions. My main gripe with the man in the middle though, was his apparent lack of understanding when it comes to the advantage rule. There was one particular occasion where Dodds made a challenge for us in the middle of the park, and if the referee deemed it was a foul (baring in mind that Swindon broke away with the ball), then he should've signalled for advantage. However, he allowed play to continue and said 'no' to the calls for a foul from the Swindon fans, yet as soon as Vale managed to win the ball back, he calls it back for the free kick!? How does that even make sense? You can only call it back for a 'foul' if you've originally signalled for play to continue with advantage. Bizarre.

A few other things to touch on - our away following of 327, however anybody dresses it up, is very, very poor. We were 9th in the league following two very good wins (which, as it happens, was the highest we'd been in the league standings for 8 years). We were confident. We'd taken more (400+) to Colchester United, Carlisle United and Leyton Orient, and a respectable 200-odd to Crawley Town on a Tuesday night. Yes, it was £25 to get in for Adults, which, for this level of football is shocking, but don't you think Swindon fans have to pay exactly the same price as well?? How do you think they feel? We only pay it once a season, whereas they're stuck with those inflated prices a minimum of 23 times a season. The facilities aren't the best? Well, are they really that much better or worse than the vast majority of stadiums in this division and the one below? I could name at least 20 of the 46 other teams in League One and League Two who have facilities on an equal footing, or even worse than Swindon do. I can sympathise with Vale fans in regards to the fact that we have got Shrewsbury Town (H), Crewe Alexandra (A), Preston North End (H) and Walsall (A) coming up within the next few weeks, so they may have prioritised. However, we still could've had at least 450 down in Wiltshire as it would've seen us as very consistent on the road with our 400+ followings to the other 'non-local' away games.

I enjoyed my day though. Met a Vale fan in one of the pubs before the game who lives in Cirencester and shared a pint. On meeting this Vale fan, I was also introduced to a couple of Swindon fans who were very pleasant. I had to express my dislike of Oxford United to them, to which I was granted freedom of Swindon, aha! The food inside the stadium was over-priced and quite frankly, disgusting, but I was hungry and shovelled it down anyway as I don't waste food. Was a bit disappointed to only see just over 7,000 Swindon fans though - haven't you guys been getting close to 8k attendances in your last few games? Quite poor vocally as well given the scoreline, but our numbers were poor, and vocally, we were even worse. The only chant I actually appreciated and bothered to join in towards the end of the game was '£25, you're having a laugh' as it pretty much summed up the entire afternoon (even though I didn't pay £25, thankfully!).

Personally I thought our "antics" were not up to theirs, a stronger refwould have clamped down on the kicking. But I can see why Pritchard gets up the nose of away fans, something we've already picked up on in here..

Incidentally, talking of wingers, is Matt Ritchie proper fucked? Not seen him near the Muff team this season so presumably still injured?

So the goals are up on player now as is some of the Hughes being a twat incident.  To me it looks like our bench tried to get the ball for him, it went towards the back of the dugout, one of our lot feell off his chair, hughes went off like a twat in amsterdam sex show.  He appeared to stamp a couple of times but no punches.

Still should have been sent sent off.   A stamp ain't a yellow card.

After seeing the highlights, Byrne's goal looks even better. It's a shame he selfishly squandered an opportunity at 3-0 to kill it off by taking a pathetic shot at an impossible angle instead of passing it.

Fair review from the vale fan
Nice to see a non too partisan view from the opposition, esp on the facilities ( good job they didnt get the bank  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick: )

Agree thought their antics on a par or worse
And yes 7657 was disappointing but after last 2 results plus the weather forecast would have kept some away
Vocally he was correct - we were poor ( as per usual )

Just seen highlight on player - pretty sure is Digby that fell off chair and was then sent to stand while stampy got a yellow
Laughable

I was right behind him and it looked like he was trying to tuck it in the corner but scuffed his shot.

Byrne has very poor decision making at times.

To be fair Byrne is playing on the left wing, but right footed. Crossing with your weak foot is difficult job. His movement off the ball has been decent this season to me.

Just seen the highlights (including the scuffle)- it's obvious the ball bounced under the seat and diggers was trying to pull it out, and murdering stampy cunt led with his foot, hooked Diggers out of his seat, and then it all kicked off- looks like 4th official got involved too!

Red for murdering stampy cunt if Diggers gets sent off for trying to pull the ball out...

Also just seen the FLS, no mention of the murderer/Digby incident, and the goals were just how I remembered them - classy! Fair play to the Vale fan for his comments (and dislike of O*ford), although as many have said I thought their antics were just as bad as ours with the ref.

We were the match sponsors yesterday and had a fantastic day.
Just for the record on the MOM stakes.
First half Mason was just in the lead, with close calls from N'Guessen, Ranger and Jay Mac.
Second half with Mason going off, two conversions from Jay Mac, N'Guessen was definitely getting the majority vote from the lads.
Had a hand in most of the goals and his strength gave Vale all sorts of problems all game.
Luongo had a better second half but I thought N'Guessen deserved his MOM.

Mark Cooper is a really decent bloke. Had plenty of laughs with him before the game.
We waved a few red cards at Digby in the suite and he thought the event was funny. He just grapped Hughes's leg and was not going to let go.

A long day but a cracking one at that.
Great for 2 new lads to present the MOM and be presented with the signed shirt.

COYR'ds.
