We were worth a draw - Cooper

TOWN boss Mark Cooper was adamant his side deserved to take at least a point from their tough away trip to Oldham.

It slightly worries me that MC thinks we deserved anything from that game.

I'd imagine what he says publicly and privately thinks aren't always aligned.

Obviously no idea if this is one of those times.

I caught his interview after the game on the way home from my son's party and he said it then as well.  All in all  he sounded very defensive and was quite abrupt with the interviewer.

He does seem to have a tendency to echo Paul Hart in his post-match interviews.

Strikes me that MC has the makings of a half decent manager but, like the team, he's not yet the finished article.  Give it time.  I quite like the idea that we could have a manager who might grow with the club; and not chop/change every 18 months or so.

I would say there's zero chance of a manager being given much time in the current climate, unless he can get a few OK results. Cooper needs a couple of wins in the next 6 or so games...

What climate?

And are you seriously suggesting that if we win only once in the next 6 (maybe with a few draws in there as well), that MC will go?  Behave.  This is a transitional season, Reg.  You know it, I know it, the manager knows it and so does Jed.

I can't remember MC's early interviews being downbeat and defensive.

Perhaps the job fuels paranoia. Just because he's paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get him as the saying goes

If Cooper gets a win and say 2 or 3 draws in the next 6, he'll be fine...if by transitional, you mean nobody except Chang, and a few other loons is expecting too much then yes...

The current climate is that there tends to be a rapid turnover of managers at most clubs...

Deserved to get something from the game? We couldn't of complained if we had of lost 4 -1

Oh believe me, there would have been some complaining.

Possibly but not from me. We were beaten by the better side on the day. How we kept it to 2 -1, I'll never know.

It shows how highlights can be edited to make a game look how you want it.
Based on the highlights on the club site Oldham barely had a kick in the second half until they scored.

Based on what has been said by those that went that was far from being the case.

My take on the game was.......
We had a purple patch of 15 minutes maybe 20 minutes of the game with no real end product. Remember our goal was a wickedly deflected own goal.
This was the Shrewsbury game revisited with even less goal mouth action.
Roll on Saturday.

Mainly true although I would argue a goal is a goal no matter who scores it so there's your end product. About 10 minutes after our equalizer Mason hit a shot from the edge of the box which whistled  2 inches past the post with the keeper seemingly beaten. Had this gone in then we may well have gone on to win the game. As it was we got what we deserved because you can't just turn up for about 20/25 minutes.
