Rooney hoping for cheers not jeers

OLDHAM striker Adam Rooney is unsure of the reception he will get from the travelling Swindon fans when he comes face-to-face with his former club - as the dispute over his contract remains unresolved.

Hope he'll settle for "Meh".

I got no grudge against him over that contract, it was those cunts who thought it was clever and financially prudent to negotiate it in the first place

I think he would have played the Ranger role quite well at the start of the season. Far better than anyone we had prior to him joining.

I was a big fan of Rooney, had a decent goal return. Wouldn't cheer him though, but certainly wouldnt boo him.

This.  Thought he was the 3rd best striker we had last season

Groan. Just about forgotten he ended up at Oldham...expect a Revell, Monkhouse scenario. Last season it was Jervis

I think it'll be neither.

1-0 Rooney (Pen) is my prediction.

I liked him (compared to Williams), but think I preferred Collins. He certainly scored some important goals for us, and if I could be bothered to go to Oldham, I'd give him a slight ripple of applause.

On Collins, his step up is working well ;)

Thought Rooney was over rated, wouldn't boo him though.

If he remains in contract dispute (I thought it was sorted) with us that would suggest that the argument is that he has some manner of remaining valid contract with the club. On that basis can he actually play against us if he is claiming a contractural basis remains?

Let's hope you're still thinking that at 5pm tomorrow.

I'd understood it that neither side were claiming he is still in contract but that he's claiming he's still owed money from the contract that was in force i.e. it's not been paid up in full. But I may have that wrong. Don't much care either way.

I thought he was our best striker last season.

Considering that our manager at the time was classed as one of the best forwards to play in the premiership, his record in signing front men, was on the most part quite shocking!

I don't think his League 1 signings of strikers in Collins, Williams and Rooney were bad at all, considering he did not have the luxury of a few hundred thousand to spend on one like Bournemouth who were able to spend £800,000 on Matt Tubbs.

Williams had scored a load in a poor Yeovil side and started last season superbly. Collins is a good forward who made the club a profit and Rooney is not bad either.

The League 2 offering...well Clarke would have been the best player in that league if it wasn't for the fall out. As for the rest, well I see your point. But they were good enough to help us piss the league.

And from me.

I delighted he didn't have £800k to spend on Matt Tubbs too.
