Excellent news. We didn't miss him last Saturday, but in my opinion he's the best player in the squad.

And our joint top scorer despite having played half of the games so far!

Bryne, hopefully.

Are we still scapegoating Byrne? I thought we'd finished with that.

He's our weakest attacking player, so if dropping someone it should be him, no? Winning 4-0 the team will stay the same though I would expect and rightly so.

Mason in for Pritchard, who moves out to the wing (Byrne/Ajose/N'Guessan on the other). Unless we're moving to the wingback formation, in which case I have no idea.

Yes, fair point. I think the team may be slightly different though as we used a different formation. Not sure if he wants to stick with that at home.

Either way it might not be too clever to rush Mason back into it, as good as he is. Cracking player to have on the bench!

We just won 4-0 away. He should be on the bench and wait his chance like everyone else

Seems so, Williams had moved on so somebody has got to be a target - unfairly I think!

Agreed.

Byrne is the weakest of the attacking options, so of course it will be suggested that he is the most likely to be dropped for one of our best players. Hardly a scapegoat.

His dogshit displays and numerous errors at left back mean a few will take a bit of winning over but he is certainly an improved player in the more forward role and is a good option to have.

He wasn't even that bad at left back.

He's clearly better going forward than defending, but retroactively suggesting every performance he had there was an error ridden catastrophe, in a team that was collectively dire to a man away from home at the end of last season, is either concious misrepresentation of the circumstances or ignorance based on limited observation time.

If the opposition are going to stick 11 men behind the ball, a tactic we'll probably see more and more of at home this season, he's still a good option at LB in my opinion, since he can run with the ball, pass it accurately and cross it from open play, elements often found wanting in the current incumbents game.

Weakest attacking player? He's probably not going to score as many as Pritchard, Ajose or N'guessan from the wing, but he links play well, has a good understanding with the other Spurs players, makes intelligent runs off the ball and tackles better than the other 3.

He might not be the most eye-catching player individually, but it's a team game, and if the team plays better with him in there, and he brings out the best in other more eye catching individuals, then he's still the right option for the system.

All of that might still be up for debate at this stage of the season, but he's certainly in the conversation.

I genuinely did think he was terrible at left-back... been miles better this season in the more advanced roles though. I still have an internal rant every time he tries to slice everything rather than use his left peg. Being that one-footed is disgraceful.
