Title: Molineux on Saturday Post by: Sir Pissalot on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 08:29:08 Are we expecting many to go on Saturday? With the upcoming games against the Slavetraders and Chelski, I guess people may find it all a bit too expensive for one month.

I'll be in Turkey, drinking Efes by the sea watching Soccer Saturday. Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: Bob's Orange on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 08:42:17 I noticed that Wolves give good discounts for Under 17s (£10) and Under 21s (£13).

Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: Peter Venkman on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 08:57:51 I can't see us taking any less than 1,600 there and maybe up to the 2k mark even.

The Football Ground Guide suggests it is a bit lacking in away fan pubs - saying Walkabout is the best bet in the Town Centre. Any other bright ideas?

Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: Bob's Orange on Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 13:09:28 Away fans are normally housed on one side of the upper tier of the new Stan Cullis Stand, where around 1,500 fans can be accommodated. For games where there is a larger away following, then the away fans are not given an 'end' as such, but are instead housed in the lower tier of the Steve Bull Stand along the side of the pitch. Up to 3,200 away supporters can be housed in this area. Fans in this stand are sat quite far back from the playing area, which gives the illusion that the pitch is larger than at most other grounds. David London a visiting Crystal Palace fan adds; 'Views are excellent from the front of the Stan Cullis Stand away section, although if you are at the top then it's all a bit distant. It's a lot of steps up to the upper tier and when you get to the top puffing and blowing a friendly stward tells you that you should have asked to use the lift!'
The facilities are fine, including the catering, serving a range of pies including; Steak, Rogan Josh, Potato & Meat, Vegetable, Cheese & Onion (all £3), Cornish Pasty (£3), Sausage Rolls (£3) Hot Dogs (£3.50), 1/4 pound Burgers Or Cheeseburgers (£3.50), Chicken Burgers (£4.50), Baked Potatoes (£3), Chicken Wraps (£3) and Chips (£2.50). Musical delights at the ground include just before kick off, 'Hi, Ho, Silver Lining' with the crowd singing 'Hi, Ho, Wolverhampton!' On one visit I got talking to a couple of Wolves fans on the train up to Wolverhampton and they suggested going for a drink in the city centre before the game which I did. I had quite an enjoyable time and they even took me right up to the away supporters entrance, shook my hand and wished me luck! very hospitable. I personally did not experience any problems on my visits, but I have received a number of reports of others that have not been so lucky. It is strongly advised that colours are kept covered around the ground and city centre (and that goes for your cars too). Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: wolves83 on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, 10:21:50 Wolves fan in peace here, just to clear up the confusion
Wolves offer one of two allocation options: The Quadrant of the Stan Cullis stand (basically the corner bit behind the goal) this holds upto 1600 and thats spread across upper and lower tiers (approx 800 in each). When clubs do take this they sell the 800 in the upper first (hence some teams only ever get the upper part and the lower part (of the quadrant) remains shut. OR The Steve Bull lower tier this is the whole lower tier that runs along the side of the pitch and holds upto 2750 for away fans (not the 3200 quoted). You'll probably find if you don't sell all they'll net a bit either end off. Theres no mixing of these its one or the other, according to our site you have taken the higher allocation and will all be in the lower Steve Bull (the chap who has a ticket in The Stan Cullis might wanna check as this must be an error). Easiest way to confirm this, how much have you paid? its £22 down the sides or £20 behind the goal at Wolves. looking forward to seeing a decent away following Saturday, hope you all have a good day (until 3pm). Oh and god knows Wolves make it all ticket what can I say we have idiots in charge of the club! Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: Gnasher on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, 10:33:25 1300 sold to date. Thought it would be more than that.
Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: Peter Venkman on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, 10:37:00 1300 sold to date. Thought it would be more than that. Nice one Stevie Bull (The Tipton Skinhead) :) Have some great memories on our games going back and used to work with lots of Wolves and Baggies fans. Salt of the earth the West Midlanders. Having previously worked within the Steel Industry and seeing the heart and soul ripped out of a once thriving area saddened me. Hence with the decline I was lucky enough to "jump ship" and move to another sector. The memories :) .... The most notable one when I watched a Swindon v Wolves game in a box mixed with Wolves and Baggies (supporting Swindon) for the day. We were totally smashed in the Town centre before the game how they let us in the box I will never know. Wolves won 1-0 but I had double-vision for most of the game and never been that wrecked ever at a football match. Good luck to you, apart from Saturday. I for one will be reflecting on some good memories. Home fans can atleast buy on the day from the ticket office (although that actually caused a delayed kick off for our first game, begging the question why not let people pay on the door) so I don't see why away fans couldnt do that, think there is a new 'away tickets' window located at the back of the quadrant, which is next to the steve bull lower turnstiles so even though you not in there wouldnt mean away fans venturing away from their area outside the ground. Think the club still think we are in the Premier league the bunch of idiots Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: DarloSTFC84 on Wednesday, September 11, 2013, 13:11:16 1300 isn't that bad to be fair, 2nd away game of the month with another one to come...also Chelsea and Bristol Shitty at come too....I reckon another couple hunred will be sold. 1500(ish) isn't a bad number at all.

"If you're arriving by train then there's every chance the police will herd you straight to the Walkabout (if they are still bothering with that now we are in L1 - after the trouble at Port Vale it is likely they will default back to their normal OTT selves, which inconveniences us as much as away fans at times). Avoid The Feathers opposite the Steve Bull stand and in town I wouldn't be bothering with Wetherspoons or the Lady Wulfrun, they're rough and ready but ok for home fans, but a no go for away travellers. As NWW and Paddy say if you are in colours you will routinely get turned away by most places in town. If I were an away fan, and depending on who Blues/Villa have at home, I would arrive in Birmingham early for drinks and just head to Wolverhampton in time for kickoff, especially if travelling from the south. Just far less hassle and far more selection." The most notable one when I watched a Swindon v Wolves game in a box mixed with Wolves and Baggies (supporting Swindon) for the day. We were totally smashed in the Town centre before the game how they let us in the box I will never know. Wolves won 1-0 but I had double-vision for most of the game and never been that wrecked ever at a football match. Good luck to you, apart from Saturday. I for one will be reflecting on some good memories. Lets hope the Subway Army are inactive :) oh Bully, Bully :) :) My best Steve Bull memory was watching him score at Hampden Park. Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: Arriba on Thursday, September 12, 2013, 00:06:18 I've never seen a player worshipped by a clubs supporters as much as Steve bull. I doubt he's ever had to buy a drink in Wolverhampton. I remember an England game I went to vs Yugoslavia and there were loads of Wolves fans at Wembley to see him play. Every song at wolves games seemed to be about him and I don't remember them singing for the team, just him. Various songs and the ooh bully bully chant.
I've been to their place twice and he played both times. We beat them 2-1 in a midweek game and lost by the same score on a Saturday the next year. Ain't been there since and the Only stand remaining is the one our lot will be in miles from the pitch, just like it was then. Why it's like that I don't know? Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: wolves83 on Thursday, September 12, 2013, 07:27:07 Isnt Wolverhampton classed as being in the black country? theres no real official boundaries for the Black Country but most people accept it stretches from Wolverhampton to West Brom (west to east) and Cradley to Walsall (south to north). I'd class myself as from the Black Country (as I'm from that side of Wolverhampton) but realistically many Wolves fans are not. The West Midlands is the county and covers this area as well as Birmingham and Coventry. And yeah your right we hate to be called Brummies (its a bit like people reffering to those from Sunderland as geordies when they are infact Mackams). The accent as well are also very different (linguistically Wolverhampton and the Black Country is in the north and Birmingham in the south). You'll still probably hear the odd Steve Bull song on Saturday, the mans a legend in these parts who played a massive part in saving the club and dragging us back through the divisions. Realistically he could have furthered his own career by leaving but showed a loyalty you just dont get anymore. Its a crying shame he never got the chance to play in the top division. Title: Re: Molineux on Saturday Post by: Sir Pissalot on Thursday, September 12, 2013, 20:01:09 Anywhere decent to park near the ground? Sounds like an absolutely delightful place. From the Fans' Guide: How To Get There And Where To Park From The South: Leave the M6 at Junction 10 and take the A454 towards Wolverhampton. Continue to follow the A454 right into Wolverhampton (be wary of speed cameras on the A454). On reaching the traffic island that intersects with the ring road, turn right. As you approach the 2nd set of lights look for the signs for football parking. The ground is over the 2nd set of lights on the right. Alternatively if you turn left into the city centre you may find a space in one of the many council run 'pay & display' car parks. The Civic Hall car park, normally remains open for night matches and costs £2.70 for three hours or £3 for evenings. Terry a visiting Chelsea fan adds; 'Although the city centre car parks are handy, the area is busy with shoppers so you may like we did get stuck in long queues to get into one. I'd recommend parking in the car parks that you see further away from Molineux and taking the 10/15 minute walk; it also means you are back on the motorway quicker after the game'.
