Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 16:40:50 Very worrying - will we ever learn? Throwing money at it has never ended well here and with these cowboys running the show I fear the worst.
Not happy at all with this and I think it's time the Trust got their arse into gear and made steps to get rid of them. Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: china red on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 16:52:30 Sell Flint for £350k, Collins for £200k and sign Luongo.
Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: suttonred on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 16:54:11 When you put it like that, I don't think anyone would say we did badly.

Spot on.Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: Reg Smeeton on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 17:03:23 Sell Flint for £350k, Collins for £200k and sign Luongo. We also had a bit of a windfall from Austin....definitely a bit of a shock to see us splash some cash, but it looks like an investment, as far as you can tell these things...Ferry and Caddis, looked a decent investment, yet somehow it hasn't worked out like that. Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: Abrahammer on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 17:10:49 Huh, Jed and "Cronies" don't have a pot to piss in and will bleed the club dry according to the informed few.
I'm confused Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: OOH! We could and should have got decent money for Caddis to be fair though Reg. Maybe we will get something yet.Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: Bewster on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 17:21:52 I'd swap Flint and Collins for Luongo any day. Personally I think he is Swindon legend in the making. Got to be up there with some of our most exciting signings.
Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 17:28:55 I wonder if Ronnie will forgive Jed now ;D I will never forgive somebody who deliberately lies to me Flash, but I do applaud the board for this signing - if it comes off!! :hmmm:Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 17:31:09 I will never forgive somebody who deliberately lies to me Flash, but I do applaud the board for this signing - if it comes off!! :hmmm: What? The lie you've been so butt hurt about has turned out not to be a lie at all. What is your issue? Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: leefer on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 17:34:06 Very good signing...and without doubt a great investment in my view.
If he stays fit he will go on to much better things than LG1 Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: Flashheart on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 17:35:07 I will never forgive somebody who deliberately lies to me Flash, but I do applaud the board for this signing - if it comes off!! :hmmm: I think you've missed the point. If this signing is completed then how were you lied to? Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 18:15:47 I think you've missed the point. Not necessarily about this signing Flash, certain other statements were made, ie we spoke to Tisdale twice, but each time he moved the goalposts and Exeter are asking crazy money to release him - three hours later he was on the radio denying the club had been touch with him at all!! And the business of the roof on Stratton Bank - "we're waiting on planning permission being approved", well sorry to disappoint but my local councillor has made some inquiries on my behalf with a central ward colleague and the planning office and informed me this morning that there is no record of any planning permission being applied for. This leads me to believe that I was lied to!If this signing is completed then how were you lied to? Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: sonicyouth on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 18:22:08 But why are you taking it so personally? The £450k player thing seemed to be a lie but turned out not to be so why not give him the benefit of the doubt rather than taking it all a bit too seriously?
Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: kerry red on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 18:28:12 Who cares if Jed gets carried away from time to time.
All that matters is what happens on the pitch All the rest of it is bollocks Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: leefer on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 18:29:42 Not necessarily about this signing Flash, certain other statements were made, ie we spoke to Tisdale twice, but each time he moved the goalposts and Exeter are asking crazy money to release him - three hours later he was on the radio denying the club had been touch with him at all!! This leads me to believe that I was lied to! Ronnie,i kind of get your point....many on this forum had/have misgivings about the current regime. The facts dictate that they are getting it right...more importantly Cooper has been an inspiration...i was one of the few saying he should get the job...on the basis he has worked with the current players. The last two matches have shown a great upturn in events....i have eaten humble pie many times and i really hope that i am slurping on a fucking great slice of it come next May. All chairmen and money men tell you what you what you want to here...its how they get where they are in life. Just enjoy the ride Ronnie...it may only be a short one so dont get so wrapped up in stuff that will be blown away in the whiff of time. Yeah I sort of agree with you Leefer, however let's not get carried away on the strength of today's performance - as excellent as it was - if we can get two points from the next two away games and then beat the Shitty then we will be on a roll!! Just cannot forget that I was lied to!The facts dictate that they are getting it right...more importantly Cooper has been an inspiration...i was one of the few saying he should get the job...on the basis he has worked with the current players. This leads me to believe that I was lied to! I do see your point but in the case of Tisdale if they did speak to him twice and he did act as Jed suggests then after it became clear that he wasn't going to get the move to Swindon as they wouldn't meet his demands he's hardly going to say in an interview that 'yes I spoke to them twice as I want to move to a bigger club but they wouldn't meet my demands' it seems to be that as with Caddis people will believe anyone over Jed. The bank thing is odd but as someone who spends every working day trying to explain the planning system to people who are not specialists its possible that he may just be confused with where they are with it. Good business Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: suttonred on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 19:12:54 I have to work with planning departments, they are an absolute nightmare, submit everything for a 30 million school, and a year later it's still in their inbox, it's easy for them to mislay/lose stuff, to put it mildly, and they never admit it.
Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 19:20:17 They could have been talking to the planners for months but just not submitted the application yet. At the meeting I, along with 70 or so others went to, Murrall stated that planning permission was in and expected to be approved in the very near future - there is nothing on the council website and the local ward councillor knows nothing! Something, somewhere is not right. Is this planning on the back of a fag packet again - a la Mr Whippy!Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: horlock07 on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 20:06:20 At the meeting I, along with 70 or so others went to, Murrall stated that planning permission was in and expected to be approved in the very near future - there is nothing on the council website and the local ward councillor knows nothing! Something, somewhere is not right. Is this planning on the back of a fag packet again - a la Mr Whippy! As Sutton has said above until the council formally validate it isn't in the public domain and councillors possibly won't be able to discuss. I have had applications that have taken 6 weeks for councils to even acknowledge and up to 12 months to validation before they even consider. Not saying it's right but likely to be more than meets the eye. Title: Re: Adver News: Luongo to join Robins permanently Post by: ronnie21 on Saturday, August 31, 2013, 21:30:15 Getting back on topic (and I may be the culprit for the slight deflection although I'll blame Flashheart!) does this deal for Luongo (and the three goals for Mason) mean that the Spurs connection is actually ok now? Or are they dictating to us that we must buy him and possibly bankrupt ourselves? Does Sherwood have that much clout? All I can add is if that is the way the Spurs connection is going to work out glory be!! More "power" to your elbows!!
