Title: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: News Monkey on Friday, August 9, 2013, 07:00:02 Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop
OUTCAST Swindon Town striker Paul Benson could be on his way to the Conference, with Luton Town interested in pinching the frontman on loan. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/10601937.Luton_poised_to_make_Benson_loan_swoop/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: Ardiles on Friday, August 9, 2013, 07:11:19 Not saying there is anything funny going on here - but Jed needs to be very careful that any business we do with Luton is completely transparent. His allegiance to LTFC is well known. If we are seen to be getting the rough end of a deal here, suspicions around conflict of interest could arise.

Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: Peter Venkman on Friday, August 9, 2013, 08:08:48 I like Benson, hes a good pro and a good goalscorer, but hes past his best at this level and that was proved last season in League 2 with Cheltenham too, could do well at Luton where you dont need pace so much.
Hope he scores a hatful for the hatters. Maybe Luton fans are asking "we need to make sure Jed isn't just trying to offload an ageing Benson to benefit swindons pockets - we know he allegiance has switched to them now..." Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: Dazzza on Friday, August 9, 2013, 11:11:24 I thought he could have played a part this season. He's knocking on but looks after himself and last season despite a lack of games appeared to be in decent nick. Also nice to have a bit of a physical option up front.
He was never going to be a starter but he’s a useful player to have come off the bench and offer a bit of depth to the squad. Plus by all accounts he’s a very good pro and it doesn’t hurt to have a few experienced heads in the squad. Good luck to him. He should really be playing in League Two but Luton are a good club and I think he’ll do very well. On the basis, I can;t believe we're picking up much of the Spurs loanees wages then it would be consistent.Don't trust this board but I can't see much of interest here. Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: THE FLASH on Friday, August 9, 2013, 11:30:01 Good luck to him and i hope he wins Luton promotion back to the league.
No doubt he could of thrown his dummy out and belly ached but he didn't. Wish him well. Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: Power to people on Friday, August 9, 2013, 11:36:13 If the reason we dont want him is due to his high wages then how are Luton going to even afford 1/2 of that wage, so surely this is a non starter unless we come to an agreement whereby he leaves but we pay him off part of what he would be owed.

If Luton are only paying a quarter of his wage then it's better than us paying his full wage. It also means he gets some football and if successful Luton (or another side) will be more likely to take him off our hands.Alternatively the reason we can't afford him is due to bonuses/clauses being triggered and this gets him out of the way for a bit. Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: china red on Friday, August 9, 2013, 11:43:15 I guess we are getting to the point where if players aren't going to leave that its better to send them out on loan for six months paying part of the wage than to be lumbered with the full whack.

Alternatively the reason we can't afford him is due to bonuses/clauses being triggered and this gets him out of the way for a bit. I had always assumed it was either a bonus system for games or goals which was stopping him playing. Even if Luton are paying 10% of his wages its 10% we don't have to pay. Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Friday, August 9, 2013, 16:00:53 No point keeping a player who has asked to leave.
I wish him well, if he goes should score a load at that level. He was superb for us in League 2. It does put into perspective those desperate to see him in the side when it looks like he will end up in non league. Didn't Jed tell you in person then chang :hmmm: are you not buddy's anymoreTitle: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: Batch on Friday, August 9, 2013, 18:26:04 According to the chairman in last Friday's phone in. Must have missed that. Heard him talking about a misunderstanding over the (apparently untrue) story of the club trying to offload him to Oxford.. Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: Dr Pierre Chang on Friday, August 9, 2013, 18:28:00 He also said that while he was in Jamaica in May, Benson's agent phoned him and said he wanted out.
Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: Batch on Friday, August 9, 2013, 18:29:32 Ah right, can't say I blame him (Benson) to be honest. Treated like shit.
Title: Re: Adver News: Luton poised to make Benson loan swoop Post by: wigglesworth on Friday, August 9, 2013, 18:34:28 Swoop swoop
Paolo Bensonio was sheer class for us in divvy four. Just perfect, you could argue he won us that league. But I always got the impression Di Canio wasn't going to rate him higher than that. Turns out no one else does either which surprises me, you'd think he's got enough for a league one team. :hmmm: Seems like a good bloke and has a career as a pundit nailed on when he retires, my missus heard him on wilts sound and commented 'he sounds too intelligent for a footballer' thats wrapped that up then. :sherlock: |
