Title: Hewlett
Post by: dogs on Thursday, August 11, 2005, 17:23:43
Been reading some opinions on a Torquay site. Glad to see he hasn't disappointed.

"Hewlett: 2/10 and he¡¯s lucky to get
that. While i will not condone people
verbally attacking a player during the
match, after it is another matter.  He
was dreadful, poor positioning, poor
challenges, useless passes, can not
remember what he did to deserve a two,
maybe im just a kind and generous
person."

"The problem is the midfield - or to be
more precise Hewlett. He was awful,
truly awful. He never once broke out of
a jog, won a header or tackle or
completed a pass. When anybody else had
the ball, he made no sign that he wanted
it. There were quite a few ironic cheers
and boos when he got subbed. One of my
mates booed, which i don't neccessarily
agree with but I think the sentiment was
there in all of us who saw him last
night"

"Hewlett - dear oh dear
(however don't agreeing with a minority
of fans booing him when he went off -
out of order !!)"

"the real
disappointment was Hewlett who did
nothing going forward and is by no
means a midfield ball winner so what
he is in the side for i am not sure."

"Hewlett - having talked up his
signing, I take it all back. Game
passed him by, as did the OXford
midfielders every time they
approached. Awful."

"Hewlett (absolutely
anonymous)"

" hewlett in my opinion
especially disappointing. "

"Lowlights, sorry once again....Hewlett.
Was this guy really Swindons captain
and inspiration? Really???? "

I knew he was shite the first time I ever saw him play at home to Wrexham 03/04.  He was far too dirty, crap in the air, slow and his passing was poo.

I thought Alexander would have been good if we'd managed to play to his strengths.  As usual, we didn't, and he looked shite.

Alexander was shocking considering the amount of money we paid for him and then let him go for peanuts.

In the great scheme of things he's a decent 3rd division striker, or league 2 if you prefer.

Why we paid so much for a youth teamer is beyond belief nowadays when you look at the transfer market.

He'd scored quite a few goals for Exeter the year before he joined us, maybe that's why Todd went for him. Hope there was more to it than that though, but doubt it.

Surely he'll be a hero for putting the nails in those scumbags' relegation coffin!

Fancy him to have a good season with the Orient express this season!

Gary Alexander never scored v Scum....did a quality celebration, for which he is fondly remembered.

Definitely showing the way to the basement for both the scum and himself.

Here's our line-up from that day, under the magnificent management of David Kemp (in hiding abroad somewhere)

1  Richard Knight (playing non-league working in b&q i believe)
2 John Robertson (banbury utd)
3 Darren Patterson (oufc youth team manager, top bloke)
4 Jon Richardson (?)
5 Wayne Hatswell (kiddy)
6 Matt Murphy (pure gash)
7 Paul Tait (utter shit) (replaced by Manny Omoyinmi)
8 Dean Whitehead (sunderland)
9 Paul Powell (didcot town) (replaced by Joey Beauchamp) (down the bookies or at the dogs)
10 Phil Gray (fat shit)
11 Steve Anthrobus (worst oufc player ever) (replaced by Peter Fear) (was utter shit for us)

not trying to take anything away from your deserved victory, but what a shit team we had.

O'Halloran was a quality player before the Bornmuff scum brke his leg. I still resent them for that. Thats why I am glad that Jenks broke their guys leg last season, I heard it crack where I was sat.
