TRUST STFC are launching a new website in a bid to enhance communication with fans and underline the key objectives of the organisation. http://www.thisisswindontownfc.co.uk/news/headlines/10572982.Trust_STFC_set_up_new_website/?ref=rss Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: joteddyred on Friday, July 26, 2013, 06:24:47 Good to see the Trust have taken in board feedback and got a decent website up and running. I've also just realised that one of the Project Managers I work with is the new chairman. I'm looking forward to our meetings when I get back :)

No wonder SM was crying about not being allowed on the trip to Portugal, about time he follows the efforts of his colleagues at the BBC and starts doing some digging to report on some real news. I will return when the meltdown begins. Yeah look at that Sam, publicising a fans initiative, what a rotter. Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: Tails on Friday, July 26, 2013, 10:40:31 I think it was a necessary article. Raises awareness of the trust a bit more to Town fans who perhaps weren't sure what they were doing. It's certainly a much improved website than before (and I'm pretty sure my father created the previous website as well!) and it's nice to see some goals.
Shame to think we missed an opportunity in January to have fan ownership. I think we were all guilty of becoming complacent. Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, July 26, 2013, 10:40:37 Who is our new Manager Sam?
Will he be playing football the Luton way? Are we likely to hear of new players coming in before the start of the new season? Are you and Jed best buddies now? Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: china red on Friday, July 26, 2013, 10:46:55 Ta Mr Chang. Glad you enjoyed it. Maybe Sam can investigate which school Chang goes to and how long his summer holiday is. I think we were all guilty of becoming complacent. I think January took everyone (well perhaps not Mr Patey) by surprise, hopefully in the future the Trust will be better prepared should a similar situation arise. So everyone should join, it's only a fiver, and you can't even get a Big Summer Session ticket for that (yet) Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: Ƭ̵̬̊: The Artist Formerly Known as CWIG on Friday, July 26, 2013, 11:51:04 Shame to think we missed an opportunity in January to have fan ownership. There has been a substantial amount of moaning being practiced. I would actually fear that some form of fan ownership may lead to out and out civil war in the town, happy clappers versus doom mongers! Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: horlock07 on Friday, July 26, 2013, 12:06:31 secret meetings with Jezza Wray? "Missed an opportunity in January to have fan ownership." Oh yes, with all your funds and business acumen. I've read some twaddle on this forum but that's bang up there. I would actually fear that some form of fan ownership may lead to out and out civil war in the town, happy clappers versus doom mongers! But the fans would actually own the club and have to appoint their own board, etc. The happy clappers will always happy clap even if Hitler was chairman so they're not really a problem, the doom mongers would have to take up the option of joining The Trust and voting not to re-elect the board they're unhappy with or shut up as they'd have no right to moan. "Missed an opportunity in January to have fan ownership." Oh yes, with all your funds and business acumen. I've read some twaddle on this forum but that's bang up there. Why is it, exactly? All I was saying that if the Trust, and the rest of the fanbase, had remained diligent during the period of Fitton / Wray / Black's ownership, they may have had some form of plan in place to at least try and take a hold of the club. It's hypothetical and I can't prove whether or not it would have happened, but there's no need to be a cunt. I know it's your MO and what not but it's a little tedious. As for the 'Your funds and business acumen' I don't work or have any sort of role within the trust. Running a football club is a full tiem job and you need money behind you. Not a bunch of eggs with replica shirts and shit hair styles. Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: sonicyouth on Friday, July 26, 2013, 13:06:56 I mean the Trust, not you individually. The fans consortium headed by Power (not that one) was probably more along the lines of a fan takeover would consist of and not pauld going bald again trying to ensure there is a sufficient supply of chips in the Town End at half-time.Running a football club is a full tiem job and you need money behind you. Not a bunch of eggs with replica shirts and shit hair styles. The problem is finding someone wealthy enough who is open to fan cooperation. Oh yes, with all your funds and business acumen. I've read some twaddle on this forum but that's bang up there. Firstly, a bit far fetched to suggest there is NO ONE among the fan base with any business acumen, how do you think other trusts (Pompey, Exeter etc) get by? Secondly, and this isn't a criticism of the man merely an observation as I see it; I'm not sure Jed had much in the way of 'funds' before Power came along either. Running a football club is a full tiem job and you need money behind you. Not a bunch of eggs with replica shirts and shit hair styles. Agree with that totally, and that's my biggest concern. I'm not totally for a fan takeover personally, but if there ever was to be one, January was certainly the biggest opportunity. It's all ifs ands or buts, but who knows what the Trust may have achieved had they set out the goals they're setting out now a few years earlier. Secondly, and this isn't a criticism of the man merely an observation as I see it; I'm not sure Jed had much in the way of 'funds' before Power came along either. Business acumen is about things like running a business that makes money, keeping customers happy and not having to deal with corrupt bastards and their dog's bank account in Monaco. Therefore anyone with a shred of business acumen wouldn't touch a football club with yours. You need business acumen and an insane passion for the club, for which you are likely to get no thanks and make no money. Nigel Doughty (Forest fan and multi-millionaire) used to say that being chairman of Forest was like paying millions of pounds year for his season ticket, and having every other fan hate him for not paying enough. There aren't exactly people queuing round the block for the chance. All in my opinion of course. My fear is that the will for a fan based Trust takover just isn't there....times change things that were once cherished become neglected and perish....in Swindon you can see it in things like the Works, the neglect of little bits of remaining architecture like Mechanics and Locarno...previously sound local pubs, like the Welly and George. Changes are forced by the relentless march of global capitalism...and football is very much to the forefront of this process...we may be getting a glimpse of the future, with our Spurs link. The good news is that despite the shit, we're much better off, than we were a few years ago under the Diamond Mike regime, so don't see us heading out of business just yet. Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: Ardiles on Saturday, July 27, 2013, 09:34:43 My fear is that the will for a fan based Trust takover just isn't there....times change things that were once cherished become neglected and perish....in Swindon you can see it in things like the Works, the neglect of little bits of remaining architecture like Mechanics and Locarno...previously sound local pubs, like the Welly and George. The good news is that despite the shit, we're much better off, than we were a few years ago under the Diamond Mike regime, so don't see us heading out of business just yet. Agree with almost all of that. All I would add is that some change is natural. For example, pubs like the Welly and the George would, at one time, have been seen as upsetting the natural order of things (and Reg's great great grandfather would have been lamenting that change as much as Reg regrets this one!) The growth of Swindon and the coalescence of Old Swindon and New Swindon about 150 years ago (?) would have been greeted with horror by some back then...and the George, as it happens, is slap bang in the middle of the area that was developed to cause the two to join up. But I know that wasn't the point of your post. Regarding the Trust, John Ward freely accepted that he wasn't able to dedicate the time to the Trust that he would have liked and had been angling for someone based in Swindon to take over his role for some time. That has happened now and the new chap (who I don't know) seems to have the bit between his teeth. Next time the club comes up for sale, it could be a different story. Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: Ticker45 on Saturday, July 27, 2013, 10:08:15 My fear is that the will for a fan based Trust takover just isn't there....times change things that were once cherished become neglected and perish....in Swindon you can see it in things like the Works, the neglect of little bits of remaining architecture like Mechanics and Locarno...previously sound local pubs, like the Welly and George. The good news is that despite the shit, we're much better off, than we were a few years ago under the Diamond Mike regime, so don't see us heading out of business just yet. This. So much money to be made in all sorts of areas now if you get it even half right and that will always attract those who are good at being top business people and others who attempt to be good, and then there are the charlatans out to make a quick profit. It has always been the same, but in football terms alone the money to be made now if it is done right far eclipses what was around only ten/fifteen years ago. I do wonder if many trusts would have the necessary blend of people to run multi-million pound business's on a full-time basis as that is what it now requires? Title: Re: Adver News: Trust STFC set up new website Post by: Ardiles on Saturday, July 27, 2013, 10:11:44 I am sure that there are plenty of people with those talents not currently involved with the Trust, who would gravitate there if there was a real prospect of a Trust-based takeover happening.
