It is reported that Birmingham are trying to sign him in a last ditch attempt according to talksport.
I cannot see that if they can't even afford £175k to sign Caddis because they are broke.

The Sun today is saying that
Quote
HUDDERSFIELD have beaten off Burnley and Barnsley to sign James Collins.

The striker, 22, was Swindon’s top scorer last season with 18 goals, and will cost £300,000 after his hard-up club agreed a cut-price deal.

Brum know they will get Caddis for nowt in a few months time, probably the reason Caddis turned down Blackpool, nothing to do with not affording him.

Why pay money for a player who is on his merry way for nothing sometime soon.

It's not really soon though, he won't be transferred until 1st July next year.

Birmingham have signed players permanently who play in his position. Caddis' loan spell left him on the brink of his first senior cap, he'll go to a club who can come close to what we pay him.

Also, at Benson's age he needs games. Hopefully a club nearer to his base can provide him a decent offer.

I'm helplessly hoping that we can get the 'big wage' players out. We don't want a group of Winston Bogarde's picking up wages and doing nothing. It defeats the point of what the board are doing with the squad. Of course, under the previous board we would have simply paid these guys off or at least tried to.

Apparently, Blackpool offered Caddis £4k per week plus £1k per appearance and he said he'd be better off staying at Swindon

I was going to say something about how greedy Caddis is and if he wants to play Championship football then why not accept that deal, but I guess its not as simple as that, with his home in the south and a small child to think of.

I hope we can work something out with Caddis and get the best out of him for the last year of his contract, but it doesn't seem very likely.
