Title: Posh (A)
Post by: reeves4england on Friday, July 12, 2013, 11:46:51
Who's going?

I'm considering it, but it's going to be expensive given the cost of the train and the tickets. £25 is a rip off for a seat in the Arkells, let alone for terracing behind the goal.

£28 if you pay on the day.

Looks like these are for seats, the away terrace tickets are the same price as the Tickets for the London Road terrace which is £20 in advance.

It does say that the away terrace may not be available for some games, doesn't say which ones though

Ah, fair enough. I might hold out a couple of weeks and see if they offer us the terrace then!

I'm assuming that's the all inclusive price that entitles the ticket holder to a cup of Bovril and a complementary 'massage' at half time?

I want at least an inclusive handjob off the cheerleaders at that price.

I'm going with my Dad, only a 35 minute drive from here....

I'll be in the Directors box though, as my Dad is good friends with a posh fan who is in there that day and is taking us along as well, so free meal beforehand and free tickets to the match are always good....

Me and 3, not missed the first game of the season for 13 years  and won't miss this, even if I have to sell the family gold to Cash Converters to afford the tickets.

Can't see any ticket info anywhere for this, there's still nothing at all on the club site. I think someone in another thread said £28 and seating only - is that confirmed?

I assume it'll be pay on the day also?

Pay on the day is £28...a little cheaper i think if you pay up front.

It's not that bad, we manage it every other week.

Takes about 2 hrs from ours to the outskirts of Swindon.

I can see the Posh tickets under the away section  :hmmm:

Admittedly doesnt mention the £3 increase for on the day but can select tickets for the seating section @£25
Still hoping they open the terracing tho
Have a week for that to happen - depends on seating take up I guess

Not sure whether thats due to the drive or whats at the other end  :Ride On Fatbury's Lovestick:

According to google maps it's 2h 39m to London Road. Speed cameras abound, A420, A43 (one north bound, two sound bound) there IIRC there are a proliferation around the Northampton ring road and some average speed stretches. as long as you're sensible three hours should more than cover it.

Title: Re: Posh (A)
Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Sunday, July 28, 2013, 11:16:19
Although its longer it is quicker to take the A14 at Thrapston to meet the A1 rather than go via the A605.

There is a speed camera on the A14 just after you get onto it going that way.

That also reduces the amount of single track road and can therefore increase the average speed.

Or you could go the long way round round lorry route via the M25 then A1M

A quicker easier drive...but more miles of course.

Ta. I had tried the online ticketing bit, but it's always either down (as it still appears to be now) or the away league games link doesn't work.  :crash:

While my car is free (governments slice of CCT that is) I pay my company 15p per mile so M4, 25 & A1M not really viable for me on my own.

Is it though?  Adds 45 miles to the journey, or 90 for the round trip.  That's one hell of a detour.

Another alternative to the recommended route now that the A421 has been dualled between the M1 and the A1 would be Swindon-Oxford-Bicester-Buckingham-Franchise-Bedford and then up the A1 to Peterborough.  All of that route apart from the Swindon-Oxford stretch and the A421 west of Franchise is dual carriageway or motorway.

Have tried that once, even without too much traffic found it slower than going via Northampton.

Really? It's about Peterborough away FFS on the thread titled "Posh A", what do you expect? How to get to Crawley? Or perhaps our line up for the last game of the season assuming we're down already? How about programe content for the Torquay game?

Really...well believe me going the extra miles in a straight line so to speak aint a lot different to going round roundabouts...stopping at lights and slowing down for caravans....just to mention a few things that will drink your juice.

Pay the fucking extra and have an easier ride....and get there quicker.

Been there and done it Leefer. @ an average of 35-40k miles per year since 1988 there are not many routes in the area between Aberystwyth and the wash i've not taken. So given that i'm in no rush to get to Posh on Saturday and the shortest route might take me more or less time than your 40 tonne route and baring in mind that my two week holiday this year will be a driving holiday I'm in no rush to add to the companies/governments coffers any more than i need to thanks.

That's a tricky question...there is a lure in the first game for a while, but it's not exactly the most attractive fixture...the general mood amongst Town fans I meet out and about seems to be one of confusion mixed with resignation...so I'll go for 400.

Hmm.  I think you're underestimating that quite considerably.  Peterborough is actually quite a decent away day, and there will be plenty wanting their football fix after three months of boredom (mildly alleviated for some by the cricket).  And as has been pointed out by quite a few on here, a lot of people simply don't care about the politics/off field matters anyway.  Won't be far off 1,000, I'd say.  Let's see who's closer!

Don't forget though previously that Posh had the terrace and cheaper tickets. Its now £25 for seats along the side stands so may put some off. I'll go 600.

Because our A team don't have a game and their fans might want to watch the development squad
