Terrible news. Title: Re: Sad News Post by: Batch on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, 19:57:58 Arse. Terrible for all concerned.
Was quite sobering to see the police en mass down the Chip-Calne cycle path near the river today. Title: Re: Sad News Post by: ibelieveinmrreeves on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, 20:16:21 Very sad indeed. Also saw police searching around the bottom of Derry Hill this week, being so close to home is a bit surreal.

Title: Re: Sad News Post by: joteddyred on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, 22:21:06 Extremely upsetting news. I knew him to chat to, because a friend of mine works in the same team. Lovely chap. Thoughts are with his family.
Title: Re: Sad News Post by: Jamiesfuturewife on Thursday, July 4, 2013, 17:30:44 Really sad, my husband knows his wife, at least he's found now so she can have some closure?

Title: Re: Sad News Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 16:45:29 Body found in the River Ray :(
Title: Re: Sad News Post by: joteddyred on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 16:51:34 Had a horrible feeling that might be the outcome. How awful.
Obviously don't know the ins and outs, but if you're in a group that's been drinking, why separate and leave someone to their own devices near water? Title: Re: Sad News Post by: janaage on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 18:58:06 Because they're adults and should be able to take care of themselves. Surely we've all been out on the piss London, Bath, Bristol, Swindon wherever in large groups only for one or two to wander off that's the way it goes.
Sad this chap has ended up the way he has (and I'm not trying to offend at all) but questioning why they separated is a little bit odd to me. It happens. Title: Re: Sad News Post by: joteddyred on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 19:03:11 I get your point, but not really the same as leaving one of your drunk friends to go swimming on their own which is apparently what happened. Uness you think there's nothing wrong with that either?
Title: Re: Sad News Post by: janaage on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 19:08:48 What, they actually left their mate pissed up swimming? In that case I retract my above thoughts. If that's the case then they should have a word with themselves, they should have made sure he was out. Flip me, if that's the case, they'll be having some sleepless nights thinking about that in the coming weeks and months.
I bow to your superior knowledge on this one Jo. And thoughts with the chaps family, 2 young blokes in a few weeks, and so close to home. Goes to show how life can change as you know it in an instant. Title: Re: Sad News Post by: Samdy Gray on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 19:46:20 I get your point, but not really the same as leaving one of your drunk friends to go swimming on their own which is apparently what happened. Uness you think there's nothing wrong with that either? There's no point in speculating when you don't know the facts. FWIW, I know John's circle of friends quite well and I've seen/heard no mention of this at all. He lives in Purton and from Taw Hill, Mouldon Park is a cut through to the village. It might be true, but equally it could just be people putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5, just because of the words "pub", "drinking" and "lake" were mentioned in the missing person reports. Whatever happened, it's a tragic accident and another young life lost. Title: Re: Sad News Post by: janaage on Saturday, July 13, 2013, 19:47:57 That's fair comment Sam.
