Title: Glastonbury 2013
Post by: Peter Gibbons on Friday, June 21, 2013, 19:42:37
It's been mentioned elsewhere, but I don't think there is a dedicated Glastonbury 2013 thread yet so I thought I would start one.

Only a few days left so the excitement is building up nicely.

Anybody going?  Which bands cannot be missed?  Any tips for those who are Glastonbury virgins, such as myself?

Dont miss Billy Bragg.  9pm on the leftfield on Friday, 12.30 on the pyramid on saturday.  If you dont like Billy Bragg you can amuse yourself with spotting the tef'er (i.e. me) on the side of the stage.

I know very little of Billy Brag (hayday was a bit before my time I suspect) but if I'm in the area I'll keep my eyes peeled.  I presume you look exactly like your avatar? :)

Edit: including how to spell his surname, it seems.

I look nothing like that.  Cant grow the beard.  However if you shout Saxondale Ill give a traditional TEF greeting of 2 middle fingers and a verse of wise men say.  In a lovely wiltshire burr.

Go and see the Urban Voodoo Machine. They'll entertain for sure.

Peter, make sure you experience the Glastonbury 'Monorail'.

I'm off to Bristol tomorrow for a bit of shopping, and to get my supplies of Thatchers to get me through the first few days.

I bought some wellies for Glasto 2010 but never wore them due to the scorching weather we had! Now I can't find them! Think it's suppose to be cloudy with a couple of showers, I'll take that!

Has everyone landed?

What a fucking brilliant weekend.  Been three years since the last one and I had forgotten what madness it is.  Cant say the music on the main stages was that good this year and didn't wander around half as much as usual but enjoyed it all the same.

Thought I was ok yesterday but the head is only just adapting back to normality.

Top Time as usual, missed Bragg in Leftfield but saw him on the Pyramid., not the best set I have seen from him but OK.

Portishead were my top act of the weekend, Arcadias show was also fucking brilliant. Surprise of the weekend for me, how much I enjoyed The XX

Head still all over the place. Hives on the Other Stage Friday morning were great. Never seen the Pyramid field so packed as it was on Saturday night for the Stones

The crowd for the Stones was mental. We ended right up on hawkwell hill for about 8 songs, and then I fucked off elsewhere as the band were the size of ants.

I went to see Public Enemy ( well as it turned out a third of Public Enemy , no Flav or Griff due to some immigration issues)

Didn't they break up a few years back.....maybe they will do a U turn on account of being pretty flush before the shit hit the fan.

Portaloo's were pretty rough. Long drops were better

In the meantime I was luxuriating in the quality backstage toilets. Had my best Glastonbury ever and it wasn't just the superior shitting situation.
