Pity he left afterwards though and I was surprised at the time that he did, having climbed the leagues with Town. Once we got there I thought he would have stayed for at least another season.

No one seemed to hold it against him though.  I think the feeling was that he had earned his move.  One of my stand out memories from the following season was the standing ovation he got from 4,000 odd Town fans as he jogged down to our end at the start of the game at White Hart Lane.  Made the hair stand up on the back of my neck.
