Title: Phil Spencer Post by: Salford Red on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 11:59:24 Interesting article on the mirror online yesterday. Seems he's been sussed.
Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/sunderland-tell-paolo-di-canio-1869798 Title: Re: Phil Spencer Post by: sonicyouth on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 12:02:37 "The £448,506 spent by Swindon on agents’ fees in 2011/12"
that's the Ritchie fee right there... Title: Re: Phil Spencer Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 12:07:07 Saw this. Just confirms what we all suspected was the case anyway. He was employed by the club and basically just did what he wanted. Also explains the high player turnover. He was clearly seeing pound signs each time someone signed for us. Bet the club are saving shit loads now he has gone.
Title: Re: Phil Spencer Post by: ronnie21 on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 12:10:07 Bet the club are saving shit loads now he has gone. £440,000 according to the article!! Just read it, no scouting network, just e-mailing other agents asking if they had any players who might fancy Swindon!!! He has cetainly had his wings clipped at Sunderland, just PDC's agent now - and they are considering appointing a Director of Football above PDC.Title: Re: Phil Spencer Post by: Iffy's Onion Bhaji on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 12:14:14 Wonder what PDC will make of that. To be honest they have the right idea. He is a good coach and motivator just dont let him and Spencer have control over player recruitment.
Title: Re: Phil Spencer Post by: Honkytonk on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 12:25:58 Perhaps one to add to the 'what's wrong with football' thread. Agents are odious cunts.
(this is not in any way associated with my repeated failures to sign amazing players on FM only for his agent to demand millions in fees) Title: Re: Phil Spencer Post by: No Longer Posh Red on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 13:22:09 As for the Director of Football, I'm sure I read somewhere that it's the same person that he tried to get in at Swindon in the same position.
The Spencer thing was always a bit suspect to be honest, it was the same at Donny a couple of seasons back when an agent was buying & selling the players for the club Title: Re: Phil Spencer Post by: leefer on Sunday, May 5, 2013, 13:25:19 "The £448,506 spent by Swindon on agents’ fees in 2011/12" that's the Ritchie fee right there...
