Post by: Bob's Orange on Friday, May 3, 2013, 09:16:55
For tomorrow is Geoff Eltringham who has refereed 39 matches this season and has shown 9 reds and 77 yellows this season.

No need to thank me stat fans! :sherlock:

The one we had for the Stevenage game was gloriously on our side... The Town End recognised it through a song and everything.

***NERD ALERT / COOL STORY, BRO ALERT***

The only time that I've seen Geoff Eltringham officiate was a Reserves fixture between Newcastle United and Manchester City in 2009.

What are the crowds like for Premier League reserve games? 1000?

What are the crowds like for Premier League reserve games? 1000?

That one was at St. James' Park and was about 1400 (who am I kidding? It was 1457) - It was no more than £3 entry. Others I've seen at SJP had gates ranging between 2000-3000 depending on the opposition.

Games at the Northumberland F.A. ground in West Allotment sees about 500 people turn up as it's out-of-town (but still easy to get to). Very much a Non-League ground. It was quite amusing leaning against the railings watching Peter Beardsley shout instructions to Sol Campbell.

I quite like watching reserves football. You don't have to be a genius to figure out who'll make it when you go to these games, they always stick out. I saw plenty of now recognised Premier League players during that time.

Also, it's a brilliant way for parents to take their kids to games on the cheap and see decent pool of talent.
