Title: Scunthorpe Away Post by: skay on Monday, April 22, 2013, 10:44:03 Who's going? How many are we expecting to take? Never been this one before, expecting it to be like a honeymoon in Slough.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Bob's Orange on Monday, April 22, 2013, 10:46:00 I'm going to watch Koln v 1860 Munich in the German 2nd Division this weekend. Much more confortable now I don't have to try and find out this result as it doesn't (really) matter any more.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Hitchinred on Monday, April 22, 2013, 10:52:19 Heading there from my mates in Liverpool. Rail replacement bus from Doncaster unfortunately.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Bukkake Regiment on Monday, April 22, 2013, 10:52:40 I'm going, new ground. Can't say I'm looking forward to it particularly.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: hobnob on Monday, April 22, 2013, 11:05:55 See they are trying to up their gate for this with £5 admission all over the ground.
Away fans too I wonder? Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: skay on Monday, April 22, 2013, 11:07:10 See they are trying to up their gate for this with £5 admission all over the ground. Away fans too I wonder? I tweeted the stfc about that but no it's just for home fans. They're allowed to do home promos for a certain amount matches a year, otherwise away fans tickets must be the same price as home fans in the same kind of seating. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Langers on Monday, April 22, 2013, 11:49:39 I went up there for the 3-3 draw a few years ago. Simon Cox hat trick if I remember correctly.
It's a bit of a dump. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Tails on Monday, April 22, 2013, 11:54:33 Absolute shithole and would rather save my money for the playoffs. Was a little tempted though, if only to laugh at them getting relegated.
I hope we play the kids, can't afford more injuries! Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: sonicyouth on Monday, April 22, 2013, 13:08:50 Apparently sCUNThorpe have slashed prices for the home fans and are still charging us £22 Really? I'm surprised nobody mentioned it already.Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: skay on Monday, April 22, 2013, 14:00:12 Really? I'm surprised nobody mentioned it already. Did you know tickets have been reduced for home fans but still the same for away fans? Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: SleafordRobin on Monday, April 22, 2013, 15:53:02 I went up there for the 3-3 draw a few years ago. Simon Cox hat trick if I remember correctly. It's a bit of a dump. I seem to recall a confrontation with Murphy (their keeper) & our youth, resulting in several evictions! I'm going, but don't expect as big a following with the POs around the corner. Scunny probably realised this, hence the reduction for home fans. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Langers on Monday, April 22, 2013, 16:15:49 I seem to recall a confrontation with Murphy (their keeper) & our youth, resulting in several evictions! Ah yes, I remember that, I think he was a bit of a cunt. Title: Re: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: herthab on Monday, April 22, 2013, 17:03:24 Can't afford thos and shelling out for home and away in the semis. Been there before so I know I'm not missing much.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Peter Gibbons on Monday, April 22, 2013, 17:21:10 Heading there from my mates in Liverpool. Rail replacement bus from Doncaster unfortunately. Hmm, will this be in both directions? This is making me have second thoughts about going. Can't stand rail replacement buses and that is before taking into consideration the need for access to a toilet as a result of getting pissed up at the match! Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Paolo69 on Monday, April 22, 2013, 18:36:37 Hmm, will this be in both directions? This is making me have second thoughts about going. Can't stand rail replacement buses and that is before taking into consideration the need for access to a toilet as a result of getting pissed up at the match! Yeah it's both ways. There was a landslide a couple of months ago and it's still not sorted out yet. The rail replacements are half hourly service and only take 45 mins apparently. On the face of it doesn't sound too bad on the face of it but like you I hate the buggers too. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Paolo69 on Monday, April 22, 2013, 18:37:50 Oh and the fuckers really shouldn't be allowed to charge us £17 more than their own.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Peter Gibbons on Monday, April 22, 2013, 18:46:03 Cheers, I'd completely forgotten about the land slide business. Will probably still end up going though.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: THE FLASH on Monday, April 22, 2013, 22:04:08 Nowt riding on it so it's a no from me.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Peter Gibbons on Wednesday, April 24, 2013, 21:47:04 Who is going to this by train? The Honest Lawyer sounds like the place if football ground guide (http://www.footballgroundguide.com/scunthorpe_united/#Where%20To%20Drink?) is to be believed.
Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Dostoyevsky on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 12:55:53 Oh and the fuckers really shouldn't be allowed to charge us £17 more than their own. Could always go in their end. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Paolo69 on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 13:00:09 Could always go in their end. Yeah true but that's not really the point. Plus, i'd rather let my hair down. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Dostoyevsky on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 13:06:53 True, and our players will need that vocal thrust from our support as they set unto the breach that is the play offs. Besides, my suggestion was a bit daft as Scunnny fans are going to be rather tetchy at the prospect of League 2 footy staring them in the face.
It's quite shocking that they're not extending the offer to away fans - can only foster resentment. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 15:33:47 Oh and the fuckers really shouldn't be allowed to charge us £17 more than their own. I'm sure Swindon have done the same during the season. Clubs are allowed to offer deals to home fans only for a maxium of 2 games under Football League rules, the only difference is that we've probably done it for games where a low attendance (and away support) is anticipated; they're making the offer to try and get as much support behind them as they know only a victory will do. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Paolo69 on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 15:36:04 Clubs are allowed to offer deals to home fans only for a maxium of 2 games under Football League rules, Is that right? I honestly never knew that. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: STFC_Gazza on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 17:26:54 I'm sure Swindon have done the same during the season. Is that right? I honestly never knew that. I was informed by a friend who works in the Ticket Office one of our Rivals and deals with the away tickets. If memory serves me correct clubs can make upto 4 ticket promotions a season of which 2 can be available for Home Fans Only. Can understand why there doing this although it is annoying for away supporters Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Honkytonk on Thursday, April 25, 2013, 17:29:27 I'm sure Swindon have done the same during the season. That's an odd rule. What is the reasoning behind it? I'm honestly interested if anyone knows. Can understand why there doing this although it is annoying for away supporters I can understand it too, just not happy we're not reaping the benefits too. I'm happy to believe (under duress) that a club can offer a ticket promotion twice a season to home fans only, I'm struggling with the 4 times bit though. Surely a club can set any prices they like at any time?! Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: STFC_Gazza on Friday, April 26, 2013, 07:01:42 I was informed by a friend who works in the Ticket Office one of our Rivals and deals with the away tickets. Surely a club can set any prices they like at any time?! I can understand the annoyance; I'm not happy that that we're being charged more than the home fans. Don't know the exact reason; I'll ask, however I can only make a couple of thoughts Home Teams keep there own Gate receipts for League games any offers will be at their loss. Home Teams aren't really that interested in Visiting Supporters, they want supporters who will return on a regular basis. Limitiations on the number of offers could possibly be down to Season Ticket Holders. What's the value of being a Season Ticket Holder if it works out cheaper because a club has numerous offers. Discounts for away supporters is likely to have less of an impact on attendance than home supporters. Away Supporters tend to travel regardless of price, so whilst if Scunthorpe offered Swindon £5 tickets I doub't the numbers would increase that dramatically. Scunthorpe want as much backing as possible as they need the points to stay up, they're clearly gambling on people turning up in the hope it works. Then again sometimes it's better to be at the top in a lower Division than struggling in a higher division; fans will come and watch a winning team. Does anyone know if we offered Carlisle discont tickets as well as our home fans? Bottom line is Football is a business and it's all about how they can hope to increase revenue Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Mrs Miggins on Friday, April 26, 2013, 07:24:42 The huge difference in ticket prices is hugely unfair & I even questioned the FL about whether they were allowed to offer deals like this to home fans only, and sadly they are ! This is the response I got from the FL. It appears we haven't extended our ticket price deals to away supporters either this season (if the FL are to be believed of course ......
Football League Regulation 32.2.11 (agreed by our member clubs) states that, ‘Discounts or special promotions (in each case for one match only) made available to supporters of the Home Club must also be made available on a similar basis to visiting supporters provided always that each Club shall be permitted to designate four (4) Matchers per Season as ‘local promotion’ Matches where this Regulation shall be deemed not to apply. Clubs shall notify the Executive of the Matches so designated as and when they are designated.’ Scunthorpe United have notified the Executive of their offer and it complies with our regulations. Whilst we encourage clubs to be fair with their pricing and where possible make gestures to both home and away clubs, every club has the ability to run four local promotions per season, and as individual businesses, can set their discounts accordingly, as agreed to by our member clubs. It is worth noting that Swindon Town have utilised the four local promotions designated to them for this season. We appreciate you taking the time to contact The League but Scunthorpe United have not contravened Football League regulations. Thank you for contacting The Football League. £22, yer 'avin a laff ......... Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Paolo69 on Friday, April 26, 2013, 08:05:04 Cheers Mrs Miggins, at least they dignified you with a response. A pretty detailed one at that.
I understand all the reasons thanks Gaz, and i have said i fully understand why they're reducing the prices. My gripe is charging us £17 more. I don't think we will but it would serve them right if some of our boys infiltrated the home end. I'd like to think we've extended our promotions to include away fans when in reality i have no idea and probably don't care that much i suppose. The nature of a football fan! As you say Paolo a good response from Mrs Miggins and good to see someone was able to obtain the correct information. Gloucester City recently did a game in which supporters were invited to pay as much as they want. Not only did they get a slightly higher gate along with increased income, but they didn't have to pay VAT on the admission (presumably it was seen as free admittance). Brentford also did this for a game this season if I recall. Football finance is quite complex. Title: Re: Scunthorpe Away Post by: Tails on Friday, April 26, 2013, 11:52:45 I understand that we have had similar promotions, but ours were usually buy two tickets at one and save a fiver. We have to pay over 4x what Scunny fans, which still seems a tad unfair... Good job there's nothing on it really! Well not for us anyway.
