K-Mac asks fans to back Town tonight

KEVIN MacDonald has asked Swindon Town fans to offer his team “vocal support, not vocal nastiness” when Crewe visit the County Ground this evening.

Normally I cheer on the other side but not tonight...he's asked nicely so I'm backing the town!

I recently read 'The Secret Footballer' and there was a chapter in it that included a bit about crowds and how much of an extra energy boost having a good support on your back seems to give a footballer.

An early goal for us tonight could be the catalyst we need.

Or failing that a shocking tackle, shit reffing or some other "spark".

This is a classic example of getting your excuses in early....if footballers are fully focused on the matters on the pitch, then they shouldn't notice what is happening with the crowd.

There's no excuses for our lot tonight...anything less than 100% from every man, will tell us all we need to know.

They are (unbelievably) still in the play off positions and have 3 games to play (2 at home), against relatively weak opposition, in order to get the 5 points required to clinch a play off place and a great opportunity to play at Wembley to win promotion to the Championship. What extra motivation do they need?

It bugs me when I hear players and managers bleating about the crowd not getting behind them. FFS the crowd has been behind them all season and have been repaid with utter shite in a dismal run-in. I know who will be the most disappointed if we dont get promotion after everything that has gone on this season and it wont be the players, Kevin MacDonald or Jed..

You're spot on. I noticed that we took circa 1250 to Sheffield on Saturday (no away support figures in the SU programe to compare) but i'll wager that was in the top 5 away support for any team in this league at Bramall Lane this season. So for the likes of me (ST) who has been to Hartlepool, Pompey, Yeovil and Sheffield Utd away this season that comment though not offensive needed to be worded differently, as others will no doubt have outstripped my attendances commitment.

Looks like it maybe the smallest crowd of the season tonight. Not great backing, but understandable.

Actually it isn't understandable at all. If we as fans can't be arsed to turn up and make some noise with a place in the championship at stake, possibly our last chance for some time, then it's a sad day.

Good knows it ain't easy right now. But having a collective sulk is more likely to contribute to our own failure. At this moment we need to do all we can and see where it takes us.

If the answer is nowhere, then is the time to sulk, stamp our feet and whatever else.

It would be a shame if fans didn't turn up tonight due to our recent performances, now is exacly the time when the fans need to get behind the players and manager irrespective of what they might think about them.

Anyone else think that if we do manage to get into the PO we won't go remotely close to selling the CG out for the home leg?

Remember the Brighton game selling out and the Charlton game was only a few hundred short I think.

it's a small chance granted. What harm can giving it a go do?
